Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
I've seen a lot of guides on Akali, and I still haven't found one to my liking really. So here's how I player her.
-Very high burst
-Great solo lane
-Low ability CD
-Lots of abilities to keep track of
-Melee (have to farm a lot with q)
I like to have my passives unlocked to start the game so that I can start with boots, and not have to worry about upgrading them until after I have sheen. So I get +20 ap, and + 6 or so ad, and get the rest of the ad from masteries. The rest I'd make magic pen.
Start with your q, at lvl 2 get your w, and then your priorities are r->q->e->w. If you're new to akali, start out with w, it should help you die less at the very beginning.
I ALWAYS take ignite and flash with akali. I've had countless kills with ignite, and flash combined with her twilight shroud makes escaping a breeze. People wonder where in the world you could have gone!
If you unlocked your passives, get boots. If not, get doran's blade, or the longsword. The spell vamp is more important than the bonus magic dmg. Most guides tell you to start with hextech revolver. That's a mistake in my mind. Sheen will make you do so much more damage, and you already have enough spell vamp for now... Now it's time for the deathcap! This is very early for an akali, but i'll tell you why, next up is lich bane, with the amount of ap the deathcap will give you, you'll rip right through enemies in 5 secs, no sweat, and they'll still be wondering where you came from. Then I build hextech gunblade, and if I'm dominating, i'll get a bloodthirster, if i need some survivability, i'll buy a rylai's. However you could get a void staff, or an abyssal scepter, the last items kind of depend on what's going on, and what you think would go best.
Never initiate! I can't stress that enough! You will die soo fast! Let somebody initiate, find their squishy high dmg player and go in for the kill! As soon as you enter the fight throw down your twilight shroud. As soon as you enter the fight, you're bound to be focused, this is how you survive. Keep bursting people, you can chase very well with you r... don't waste your ulties since you don't have infinite of them. If you don't understand how it works, you have up to 3 charges of your ultimate. You get another one after a few secs or when you kill somebody. You should be able to 1v1 just about anybody right now with ease. If somebody buys oracles, avoid them if you need to, and try to kill them ASAP! People underestimate how effective an oracles is against akali.
Her twilight shroud is often large enough to go between to sets of bushes, use that to confuse the enemy, so that they won't know which bushes you chose! It can be really confusing. You can also use it to intimidate your enemies! When they're pushing your tower and they see it go down, they'll probably back up. If they're chasing a low hp teammate and you throw it down, they might hesitate. It slows enemies as well, so that's useful to help teammates escape.
try to throw your q before your ulti, it will make it so you can activate the mark easier, and you'll be able to do your damage faster. You can be effective by using your ulti first, but only if that's your only way to do it.
Another thing to remember is, don't be afraid to sit and chill for a sec in your twilight shroud. When somebody's chasing you, and you put it down, don't go rushing out of it right after! There may be a time when that's best, but see what they're going to do... Are there minions that can help you ulti to safety? Can you flash to a nearby bush or over a wall? Are teammates coming? Take a second to think, it lasts 8 secs.
Farm with your q, or your basic if you can. Farming with your q is pretty easy though. Don't use your ulti on minions. It's a waste. Don't do it. E is a very useful tool too. You can hit lots of minions at once with it, just walk where the most minions will be in range, and hit it. Nice and simple.
It's often wise to play defensively until lvl 6. At that point, your enemy thinks you're no threat, you're just farming... When you hit lvl 6, and have a couple charges of your ulti, mark them, and ulti to them, and hit them with your basic. Throw your shroud, mark them again, and if they're still around hit them with your basic. If they stay around, keep doing it, you'll kill them quickly.
I play akali multiple ways, this is just my favorite. I often do an AD heavy akali, or snowball akali. I also experiment frequently with her, this isn't the only way she's successful. There are many other ways to play her, this is just mine. I'd love to hear any feedback about what you think would make my build better!
This is my first guide, so take it easy, I know I didn't put in the exact runes, but I'm too lazy. If enough people whine about it, I'll put them in, anyway, thanks for reading. I know it's a strange way to build her, but it works, i'll tell you that.
Akali is a strong 1v1 or 2v1 champ, she does lots of burst, and if you use her w well, you'll be able to dish out some serious hurt, and take very little yourself. Don't lane vs Kennen, or Garen though, they'll destroy you. Other hard champs are ez, brand, cassiopeia, pantheon, trundle and swain. I love laning vs Cho'Gath though, I know I'm weird. Don't initiate, play smart, help your team, kill their AD carry, that's basically your job, or their support champ. Most of all, just have fun!
