Hello Everyone and Welcome to My Kog'Maw Build
This build will go over the following:
- What Items To Get and in What Situations
- How To Set Up To Get The Largest Damage Output
- How To Solo, or Lane//Who to lane with
- Explanation for Summoner Spells and Runes
so.. the pro's and con's
- Great Ranged Nuker
- Very Potent Slow
- Heavy Long Ranged DPS Damage to Tanks
- Can Stay Out of The Teamfight While Dealing Damage
- Hard to Aim His Ultimate
- Mana Deficiency
- Must Farm Alot of creeps or kills (item dependant)
How To Solve The Cons:
>> This Build Gives you 3662 HP by the end, which is pretty damn tanky. You also get health early from the catalyst.
>> Use your Voice Ooze to slow the enemy, preferably aiming it in their path. After the slow is applied it should be pretty easy to aim your ultimate
>> Mana runes and full masteries specialized in mana regen (also a manipulator first). Also, i took clarity :)
>> Farming creeps: By using Void Ooze and Then Living Artillery on a creep wave's MAGES, you can usually take the mages out straight away (after level 4 Ooze (Level 7)
OK, starting the game, if you are solo, pick up yourand go to the solo lane. If you are in a lane, lane with a mana user and try telling them to get a manipulator as well (the aura stacks). This will keep a consistent flow of mana coming. While playing, try to stay back, only going in for last hits, or preferably spammingto get damage off on the heroes AND minions. If you happen to catch someone close enough, popand start hitting them as they are slowed in your Ooze.
When you have hit level 6 and picked up your ultimate, start using a combination ofandto take out the mages of each creep wave.
Go back when you have gathered about 1860 gold (shouldnt take too long) and grab the Boots of Swiftnessand as much of the Rod of Agesas you can, starting from the blasting wand..
After your rod of ages (which gives you SOME health), finish your Soul Shroud(and if you are laning get your partner to do the same). This will give you ALOT more health, mana regen, AND cooldown reduction.. NICE!!!
After your soul shroud, start building a Rylai's Scepter. Start from the blasting wand and move on. This will also apply a slow to your ultimate, and your Q skill. The slow on the ultimate isn't that much but makes aiming A LOT easier. This also increases your health, making you even beefier.
After that, if the game goes far enough pick up the zhonya's ring, for the large amount of bonus AP (and the active). If the game is STILL going, grab a Void Staff. The magic pen will greatly increase the damage, and the AP is a nice bonus :)
: This is necessary to keep your mana up to be able to spam your skills (namely your ultimate): Allows you to either catch up for an artillery or get away effectively.. also if you pop it right before you die, your bomb will move faster.
Runes: The AP/Level Runes are MAINLY to compensate for the lack of AP from getting soul shroud (instead of another item). But also, they make the damage alot beefier. The magic penetration runes allow you to skip magic penetration until late game. If you would like you can grab void staff before zhonya's ring.
WHO TO LANE WITH
The best comparisons i have seen for Kog' Maw to lane with are healers or people with CC (for his ult and ooze).
Alistar, Taric, Morgana, Ryze, Soraka (for mana especially)
Note that this build does NOT involve snowballing, therefore it is stable no matter how you or your team are doing, as long as you farm up. :)
