Hi, this is my first guide. I've been playing Kog as my main ever since I've gotten him, and found an AP build to be a lot better use of him than an AD build. There are a couple reasons for this:
1. AP stacks with all of his abilities
2. Kog'Maw is extremely squishy, and AP allows you to stay farther away
3. AOE > single target damage
4. AD is only strong late game, AP is strong from beginning to end
Early Game:
You are going to want to take middle. It's important that you do, because you can't harass very well until you get your ult. Play passive, and only last hit. Whenever you get the chance, use your void ooze to harass. If they go past your creeps, you can void ooze, then activate bioarcane barrage to punish them. Just make sure you keep close to your tower and to keep last hitting
Mid Game:
This should be after you get your ult. Harassing becomes a whole lot easier, just shoot a void ooze, and immediately launch an ult on top of them. They won't be able to run because of the slow, and it should do a good deal of damage. If there are any lanes with weak heroes, you can attempt a gank. Your ult is good for scaring heroes away from towers, and stopping them from porting back. Try to get as many ganks as you can, to get stacks on your Mejai's. If you are ever worried someone is waiting in a bush, just ult it before you walk in.
Late Game:
You should be close to getting your Zhonya's by now. Try and get your blue buff as often as you can, as this is where big team fights start. When team fights start, start with a void ooze, and then spam your ult on top of their squishies. Try to stay away from the battle, as you are just an easy kill. Help your team check bushes, and dragon/baron with your ult. And when your team pushes towers, keep the opponents moving with your ult, and try to poke them as much as you can.
Well, I hope my guide helped. Try it out and let me know how it went. Please rate and comment so I can improve this guide!
