This is a guide for a tanky Warwick on the toplane.
In my opinion Warwick can counter almost every other champ on this lane, if you use the right strategy.

And I'm sorry for my English. There are perhaps some grammatical failures in the texts, but i think you can understand what i wanne say.

Flash
Use Flash, because u always need it.
For jumping over walls, for using ult when the enemy is too far away or something else.

Ignite
Ignite is a very good skill for laning phase.
You can do easily kills with ignite, if enemy has ca. 50% life and you use hungering strike, ult and ignite. If the enemy is, you can easily do that under the turret.

Exhaust
You could get exhaust, if your enemy on toplane is trynda or another char who usess only autoattacks to do damage.

Teleport
Get Teleport, if yu wanne play defensivly.

Heal
Only if you wanne troll our enemy with warwick's heal power.

Use runes to get more tanky and some magicpenetration.
But better use armor and magicresistence runes then life runes because warwick heals himself very good and when you have more armor you dont have to heal yourself that much.

Maximize the Hungering Strike as fast as you can, to harass your opponent on the top lane.
This will work very efficient if you buy some dorans rings for ap and manareg.


Skill this skill at level 2 then maximize it last, because your other skills are better for laning.


This Skill is very nice when your enemy on toplane has less then 50% of half, because of then you can easily chase and kill him, or you can harass him with Hungering Strike, because you are much faster.


At laning phase only use warwicks ult if you think you can kill the enemy or if you are ganked and you are under the turret.
In teamfights this is a very nice spell to kill the enemies AD carry, so dont waste it on their tank.

Start with a Doran's Ring and play defensively until you are level 3. Then start to harass your opponent with the level 2 hungering strike.


Then buy Boots of Speed and after one or two more Doran's Rings.


Then buy one of these two items. It depends on your enemy on your lane.
Later buy the other one.


After buy these two items.
If the enemies do a lot of damage with their autoattackes buy frozen heart as fast as you can to reduce their damage.


Buy Madred's bloodrazor for more damage output, particularly with your ult.


At last buy Frozen Mallet for a better chasing with blood scent and to kill the enemies AD carry easier in teamfights.

If you play Warwick for the first time, dont give up if you loose a lot of minions when you are farming. Warwick has a very bad attack animation, but after some time you will get most of the lasthits.

Warwick is a strong toplane champion and a very good teamfight starter and he can easily kill the enemies AD carry in teamfights.
But he can countered top by well played ranged champs like Kennen or other mages.

Easy to counter:
Cho'Gath [Jarvan IV]] Malphite Nasus Olaf Pantheon Renekton Singed Wukong
Just maximize hungering strike and harass them.

Galio
Try to attack him with hungering strike when he didnt use his shield.

Garen
Try to attack with hungering strkee before he can silence you.

Irelia
Play very defensively at beginning and start too harass with level five.

Kennen
If this Kennen is bad harass him with hungering strike, but if this doesnt work play defensively and wait for ganks.

Mordekaiser
Try to use hungering strike before Morde loads his shield. If u can damage him to less then 50% life, it will be easy to win the lane.

Riven
You have to attack with hungering strike in a way that Riven cannot use her whole combo.

Rumble Udyr
Use hungering strike then when he doesnt has his shield and you will win easiliy.

Tryndamere
Try to get as fast as much mana as you can, but by minimum one Doran's Ring and please your jungler too gank as often as he can before Tryndamere is level 6.
