Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
This build is consentrated around the power of team fights, the ability to survive and still do a fair amount of damage. In my personal opinion this is the best build for Laning Shaco.
1. Fair survivability
2. Great amount of damage late game
3. Can do his job very well in Team Fights
4. Fair amount of Early game damage
1. Squishy against Most champions
2. Low mana pool
3. Gets focused a lot!
Passive: Backstab - Shaco deals 25% bonus damage when striking a unit from behind.
Q: Decieve - Shaco stealths himself instantly and teleports to target location. His next attack is guaranteed to critically strike
W: Jack in the Box - Shaco creates an animated Jack-in-the-Box at target location, which will wait, stealthed, to Fear nearby units and attack them when some come nearby. Casting Jack In The Box breaks stealth.
E: Two-Poison Shiv - Shaco's Shivs passively poison targets on hit, giving them a miss chance and slowing them. He can throw his Shivs to deal damage and poison the target.
R: Hallucinate - Shaco creates an illusion of himself near him, which can attack nearby enemies. (Deals half damage to turrets.) Upon death, it explodes, dealing damage to nearby enemies.
We want the marks to deal more damage, the seals for the ability to take one or two tower shots or survive the ad carry's which you are going to kill. We get the glyphs for added cooldown reduction which stacks perfect with items and masteries and quint's for added armorpen to slice through the carry and support.
Boots of Mobility 【cost: 1000】 - These are just perfect for ganking and will help you get from point 'A' to point 'B' a lot quicker.
Avarice Blade 【cost: 750】- This item is mainly for the extra money that it gives and it give you a little bit of a crit bonus as well. A good item if you want that gold for 5 and a little bit of crit.
Wriggle's Lantern 【cost: 1600】- This item isn't a must but it does help you farm a lot faster and gives you more durability.
Wit's End 【cost: 2000】- Wit's end isn't really a need but it offers more Magic Resist and Attack Speed. Plus it has two unique passives! The first passive will give your attacks 42 bonus magic damage and the second passive will make your attacks increase your magic resist by 5 for 5 seconds (Stacks up to 4 times).
Blood Thirster 【cost: 3200】- It gives the most amount of base attack damage and lifesteal in LoL. Just make sure that when you get this item not to die because you will lose all those stacks on it (40 damage and 10% lifesteal).
Phantom Dancer 【cost: 2895】- This item is another great all round item. Attack speed, crit chance and movement speed. The attack speed will help you let lose alot more damage. Crit is ok but you wont use it much. Lastly this item gives you more movement speed making it easier for you to catch up to your targets.
Frozen Mallet 【cost: 3250】- The only downside with Shaco is that he is so squishy! This items fixes that and brings him up to almost 3k health. The added attack damage is cool but the main feature is the slow. This item is pretty expensive but it will make you harder to kill!
Youmuu's Ghostblade 【cost: 2272】- This item is great if you want to build a more of a high critting build. The passive is nice for running away and 1v1. This item works well with the Trinity force.
Black Cleaver 【cost: 3065】- This item should only be used if they have an armor stacking champ like Malphite or Shen. A common miss belief with this item is that it gives armor reduction! Armor reduction is different to armor penetration and can go under 0. Meaning that you can stack black cleavers so that their armor goes under 0 and you do extra damage. This item is even more viable now as it provides attack speed as well! Highly recommended.
Madred's Bloodrazor 【cost: 3800】- This items works in perfect synergy with Shaco and it's his main source of damage, it also work well with wriggles lantern as well. Attack damage and the armor is great but the main point with this item is the awesome attack speed and passive that it gives you. If the enemy champion has roughly 2k health that means on each attack you will do an extra 80 damage. Couple that with attack speed and you can be doing upwards of 400 damage on each strike. Which can make this item very deadly!!!
Banshee's Veil 【cost: 2715】- This item is a must if you feel you are to squishy or they have lots of mages. It provides at decent amount of health and magic resist but it's passive is the real bonus here. It might just save your from that one spell that will kill you
examples- crystal arrow, Karthus ult, etc.
Hexdrinker 【cost:1850】 - However this item is one of the most used in high ELO. This item benefits not only Shaco but many AD Carries, it basically reduces the Nuke/Burst damage you take. So it is very useful against Karthus, Anivia, Malzahar, and many other bursty AP nukes! It's a bit like a ... mini-banshee's.
Trinity Force【cost:1850】 - Great item with Shaco and works amazingly well with Youmuu's GB.
Exhaust- Found yourself getting killed by Evelyn, Ap Sion, Kennen, Ryze, pick up exhaust. Works well for the pesky carry's that have the nuke. (Example Malzahar) The damage reduction works well, plus the slow holds them in place. If you see the mid carry has a flash ability + summoner spell flash, (Examples Corki) Exhaust may maybe get you the kill.
Ignite- Mundo, Tryndamere, Sion, Poppy and many more. Getting the Last pinch of damage to get that first blood. Ignite is great at what it does, damage. Other summoner spells give you the choice to be offensive or defensive, ignite only brings damage. If no one on your team brings ignite and your team needs it, get it.
Ghost- Gets you places, gets you out of places, use before deceive to increase the amount travelled in stealth, chasing, tower diving and many more...
Flash- Flash is just a bundle of joy, this choice is a bit more unserious. But having that double flash makes you harder to get to.
Heal- Heal is probably the best summoner spell to start learning Shaco. Team mate in trouble pop heal, tower diving pop heal to soak a extra tower shot and more...
Cleanse- Allot of cc, stun, snare, cleanse is probably the way to go. If you find yourself facing Amumu, Galio, Warwick, Malzahar, Kennen, at the same time. Pick up cleanse. Mercurys Threads usually is enough, but like previously said, allot of stun, get cleanse
Shaco's Ult a.k.a The Guessing Game
How to Control the Shaco Copy: Hold Alt + right clicking
I find Shaco's ult to be useless at times but it can easily save your ***! Excuse the language but it does have its moments. Sending in your "copy" can do a decent amount of damage on a enemy champion if they fall for it and if they are near it enough to take in the damage your "copy" deals out after it dies.
Shaco's ult it really good for tower diving. Make sure that the tower that is has its aggro on your "copy" if not you will procede to take damage from the tower. I have heard that when you ult in an enemies towers range that it resets the aggro of the tower making the tower focus on your "copy". Im not sure about this so you will have to see for your self.
One way of using it:
Running away through brush when your close to dying then using your ult keep running away but send your minion in to finish off or deal massive damage to the enemy champion thats is after you or that is fighting in the team fight. About half the time this works but the enemy champion wont fight your "copy" if its close to full health. (they attack your copy because they think its you). So to do this you have to be less than or around 50% hp. Note: this doesnt always work so don't expect it to work everytime.
Well I would like to say thank you for taking the time to read my guide. Hope it helped you get were you wanted and leant what you needed to be taught. Shaco is a great champion to play because of what he offers to the table. Although him being squishy i still find him pretty fun to play. He is kind of a hard champion to learn so take your time follow this guide and you should have no problem demolishing your opposing team!
