About Myself

Hey, I am a Season 3 player that started playing around July 2013. I got to Level 30 in December 2013 and started playing Ranked. It wasn't the best decision since I had no idea what Ranked is about, and got placed Bronze 3, and eventually "climbed" to Bronze 5.

I took a break from Ranked for around 8 months until I had more experience and skill. I climbed to Silver 4 in 2 weeks by abusing Katarina and stopped playing Ranked again. I was stuck in Silver 4 from 2014-2015. I switched mains from Katarina to Zed during that time. In 2016, I was placed Silver 3 (because I switched from NA to SEA servers), and on the last week of Ranked climbed to Silver 1, and Gold 4 at end of season. I hopefully can get Platinum for this year.

Anyways, I am a Katarina main, but I have the most games played on Yasuo because of my "rule" not to play Katarina unless i'm in Ranked (so I don't get bored of her, and so I don't feel disgusted for playing such a broken champion that no one knows how to counter in low elo). I have a fair amount of knowledge on how Yasuo works and how to play him well.

I think of myself as a fairly decent player with lots of game knowledge because I have been playing for 4 years. You might be thinking, "You are just a filthy Gold! You are not good at all, you low-elo scrub!" But you have to remember I don't play a lot of Ranked.

Introduction

As you might have realised, I like building Yasuo with some tanky items and not go full assassin on him. This is because Yasuo already has enough damage to nuke down a enemy carry. He does not need more damage in most situations. You need items like Randuin's Omen to survive attacks from ADCs if you don't have your wind wall up, or Maw of Malmortius to survive a Lux's Final Spark that would kill you.

Anyways, Yasuo is a assassin/fighter that gets his mobility from minions because of his Sweeping Blade. Yasuo can teamfight extremely well because of his ultimate, Final Breath that can hit multiple targets at once but only if you land your Steel Tempest's tornado or your teammate has a airborne ability.

Yasuo, in most people's eyes, is a broken champion, and I do agree. But what they don't know is that Yasuo is extremely hard to master and requires a lot of skill to be able to reach his highest potential.

Pros/Cons

Pros

+ Strong Level 1 Harassment and even better Level 2
+ Punishes mistakes hard
+ After Phantom Dancer, you get a huge power spike
+ Crits everytime after your first two items
+ Extremely good teamfighting and clean up
If you do well his Yasuo, you will be able to carry easily. His dueling potential is extremely good due to his Way of the Wanderer, which gives 100% crit chance after two items. His Steel Tempest is on a incredibly low cooldown (1.33 seconds max) and his wind wall blocks ALL projectiles except for turret shots.
Cons

+ Difficult to Master
+ Difficult to not be greedy
+ Dependent on getting your Phantom Dancer before you actually start to deal damage
+ Very independent on ally team having airborne
+ Hard to fight duelists without minions / Low Mobility without minions
If Yasuo did terrible in laning phase, he will need to play extremely safe and try to farm. This is mainly because he is a melee champion and needs to get close to minions to farm. He also has limited mobility if there are no minions.

Skill Explanation

Way of the Wanderer: Yasuo's critical strike chance is doubled, but his critical strikes deal 90% damage, reduced to 75% damage on Steel Tempest.
Yasuo generates 1% of his maximum Flow for every 59 / 52 / 46 units he travels by any means, requiring a total of 5900 / 5200 / 4600 units travelled to obtain maximum Flow. At maximum Flow, the next instance of champion or monster damage against Yasuo consumes all of his Flow and shields him for 100 - 510 (based on level) damage for up to 1 second.

Steel Tempest: Yasuo thrusts his sword forward, dealing physical damage to all enemies in a line. Steel Tempest can critically strike and will apply on-hit effects to the first enemy hit.
Hitting an enemy grants Gathering Storm for 10 seconds. At 2 stacks, Yasuo's next Steel Tempest is empowered and will consume all stacks.
EMPOWERED: Steel Tempest unleashes a whirlwind that travels an extended distance, dealing the same damage and knocking airborne all enemies hit.
Yasuo can cast Steel Tempest during Sweeping Blade to change the area of effect to a circle around him, which does not benefit from Empowered Steel Tempest's extended range. The cooldown and cast time of Steel Tempest is reduced by 「 1% for every 1.6725% bonus attack speed 」, down to a maximum 66% reduction.

You're going to want to max out Steel Tempest after Sweeping Blade and before Wind Wall.

Tips and Tricks
  • You can use Steel Tempest to farm safely.
  • Save your tornado so enemies will play passive and you can get free farm.
  • You can use this while using Sweeping Blade and it will spin in a circle.

Wind Wall: Yasuo creates a gust of wind that travels forward to form a wall in front of him. The wall slowly drifts forward 50 units over 3.75 seconds, blocking all enemy projectiles with the exception of turret attacks.

You're going to want to max out Wind Wall after Steel Tempest and Sweeping Blade.

Tips and Tricks
  • You can use this to block projectiles to save your allies.
  • This will not block Lux's ultimate, Velkoz's ultimate or turret shots.
  • You can cast this while dashing with Sweeping Blade

Sweeping Blade: Yasuo dashes a fixed distance in the direction of the target enemy, dealing magic damage and marking them briefly. The speed of the dash scales with Yasuo's bonus movement speed.
Each cast increases the next dash's base damage by 25% for 5 seconds, up to 50% bonus damage

Yasuo cannot use Sweeping Blade on a marked enemy.

You're going to want to max out Sweeping Blade first.

Tips and Tricks
  • You can stack this ability on minions and then use it on champions for increased damage.
  • It has a low cooldown so when there are minions near, you can spam it on them to move closer to your enemy or further.
  • You can use this to farm relatively easily.

Last Breath: Yasuo blinks to the nearest visible airborne enemy champion to the cursor, instantly generating maximum Flow. Upon arriving, he suspends all nearby airborne enemies for 1 second and deals them physical damage.
For the next 15 seconds, Yasuo's critical strikes ignores 50% of his targets' bonus armor. Casting Last Breath clears all stacks of Gathering Storm.

You're going to want to put a point into Last Breath whenever you can.

Tips and Tricks
  • // You can use this early in the teamfight to fight tanks because you have 50% bonus armor penetration (assumning you already have 100% crit)
  • // Can be used to pick out squishies to burst them down.
  • // Your allies can knock enemies up for you and you can use your ultimate during the time the enemies are knocked up.

Combos for Yasuo

There are 3 combos that almost every Yasuo main know, they're the
- Airblade
- Beyblade
- Keyblade

THE AIRBLADE
The basic combo for a Airblade is Steel Tempest's Tornado > Sweeping Blade > Steel Tempest > Last Breath
Yasuo can Sweeping Blade > Sweeping Blade a target while being in range of a knocked up target and immediately press R after so the Q gets transferred, granting you one stack of Steel Tempest after Last Breath is completed.

THE BEYBLADE
The basic combo for a Beyblade is Sweeping Blade > Steel Tempest > Flash > Last Breath (if you have ultimate)
Yasuo can flash during his Sweeping Blade > Steel Tempest animation to reposition himself and catch enemies off guard.

THE KEYBLADE
Yasuo can incorporate both the Airblade and the Beyblade to create what is known as a Keyblade.
The basic combo for a Keyblade is Sweeping Blade > Steel Tempest's Tornado > Flash > Sweeping Blade > Steel Tempest > Last Breath

If you don't want to read this entire text, you can see the first three tips of a popular Yasuo one trick, Yassuo.

Early Game

At Level 1, you generally want to harass your enemy by Sweeping Bladeing through minions until you reach the enemy laner. You want to land a auto attack, cancel the animation with Sweeping Blade, auto attack again, and Sweeping Bladeing through another minion. This will give you a early lead and might make them use a health pot if they are extremely squishy.

At Level 2, you want to do the same thing but now use Steel Tempest to last hit minions until you get your Tornado. You can either try to harass them from afar by using your long range tornado, or Sweeping Blade and Steel Tempest to knock them up and land auto attacks on them.

Around 2.30-4 minutes in, you need to ward the opposite side of where the enemy jungler started, Yasuo has a natural tedency to push because of his AoE Steel Tempest to get his tornado.

Once you need 1 to 2 more minions to get to Level 6 and the minions are low health, you can try to engage on them exactly when the minion dies so you can get your ultimate up. A trick I use sometimes is Sweeping Blade > Steel Tempest > Flash > Last Breath which is known as a Beyblade as mentioned above. This will catch them off guard and they will usually be extremely low health and will probably be a kill unless they're near turret.

Mid Game

You NEED to roam Mid Game. It's so easy because you can clear waves extremely fast with your Sweeping Blade > Steel Tempest combo. I usually go bot lane because your ally support most likely haves Airborne abilities to combo with your ultimate. If the enemy top laner is squishy, I go for the top lane instead because Top Lane is much easier to gank than Bot Lane in my opinion.

I try to focus on getting first turret or help my team out during this time, and contest for dragons / rift herald.

This part of the game is my favourite. You already have a huge powerspike due to your Phantom Dancer and Infinity Edge, so you will be doing a lot of damage. Try to get more farm during this stage of the game because farm = exp and gold.

Late Game

Late Game is where you see all the cool teamfights happen. You will most likely be tanky so it will be hard to kill you unless they 5 man gank you. I recommend sticking with your teammates instead of splitpushing because Yasuo, in my opinion, is a teamfighter rather than a splitpusher, he has everything a good teamfighter needs, a Wall to block abilities, a AoE CC ability, mobility to engage and escape. Try not to engage teamfights unless you are confident you can't die, because even if you are tanky, you are still not tanky enough to survive damage from a whole team. Contest for dragons / barons if you not too far behind because you can stack your Steel Tempest on the objectives to get a early tornado.

End

Hopefully I will add more to this guide when I have time, but please give feedback on what I can do better besides coding. Thanks. I also make YouTube videos too on Katarina, so you can check it out if you are interested in playing her.

EDITING

I am still editing this guide but the things I have written here should be enough for a basic guide. I am trying to relearn all the bbcoding techniques from my old account to my new account.
