diffrent item builds diffrent ways to buy

When and why to buy a listed item:

Boots
Ninja Tabi: +25 armor , block 10% ad dmg taken. (Very strong for the jungle/against ad comps or a fed adc)
You usually pick Ninja tabis when laning phase is almost over. These boots are for teamfights and not for roam/perma gank.
Boots of Mobility: You will get a massive movementspeed bonus when you are out of a fight. Therefore you take those boots when laning phase is not over yet and wont be over any time soon. Use the speed bonus to perma roam/gank over the whole map.
Once you start teamfighting, you can exchange your boots because you wont need to roam anymore but to be able to stay alive in the fights.
Mercury's Tread's: When you play against a team with huge amount of CC (Slows/Stuns)

Jungle Items
Spirit of the Elder Lizard: For some extra dmg & cooldown reduction to jungle faster and to have more dps. Your usual jungle item.
Spirit of the Ancient Golem: For more survivability, cooldown reduction & tenacity You can buy Mercury Boots instead)
You buy Spirit of the Ancient Golem/Mercury Boots when you play against a team which has tons of CC. (Tenacity needed)

Tank Items
Sightstone: A Sightstone is really important, it gives you tons of mobility since you can constantly combine it with your W too move around alot faster or too engage/disengage fights. Vision is important as well to keep map control (you need map control to make plays and pressure objectives).
Randuins Omen: Perfect against AD teamcomps, or if the enemy adc is fed + it is the perfect item to go deep and to towerdive.
Spirit Visage: Not good with Lee Sin because you do not build for hp recovery. You build for dmg and cooldown reducion.
Banshees Veil: Perfect against most AP champs and also good for your initiation (spellblock).
Sunfire: If your enemies dont really have ad but you still want to be able to tank turrets, or if its just their adc. Gives you some armor +health and passive dmg.
Guardian Angel: A very good item at lategame to prevent those long death timers. Not needed if you dont expect to die!
Locket of the Iron Solari: This is just the perfect tank item to finish your build. It helps your team (active&passive) and gives you some extra tankyness.

Damage Items
Black Cleaver: This item is just great when you want to go more agressive or just burst the enemy adc. Aggro Style!
Blade of the Ruined King: You should not run ad items like Blade of the Ruined King, Lee sin does not need more lifesteal/slow, since he is already able to do that with his abilites.
Last Whisper: Gives you some extra ad & ad pen, a good item to increase your damage output.
Ravenous Hydra: Helps you in 3 ways, 1. clear jungle camps alot faster, 2. Deal more burst damage in a straight 1v1, 3. Opens the possibility of splitpushing.
Hexdrinker: Good choice to increase your damage against lots of ap dmg.

Trinket
Warding Totem: Perfect to get some vision to secure lanes from ganks or counterjungle. You can also combine it with your W to use it as a gapcloser!
=> Once you have your Sightstone, exchange your Warding Totem with a Sweeping Lens/Oracles Lens to deny vision / keep map control.

How to carry as Lee Sin

As I mentioned before Lee Sin is all about early game. Gank alot to make your lanes snowball. Dont only focus on kills though, you have to get something out of those kills (Dragon/Turrets) to get closer to victory. Kills only wont make you win, you need to have map control and snowball even harder. For that I will show you some examples & Tips how to have huge impact in your game.

Tip 1 - Good Ganks
Make unexpected or rather unsurvivable ganks. As a jungler always try to give kills to your adc/midlaner (unless they dont know how to play), because they will have a larger impact later in the game.

Tip 2 - Counterjungle
Pay attention to your opposing jungler. Figure out if he starts at blue or red buff. One way to do so is to pay attention to the rest of your enemy team. Example: Imagine you(blue side) jungle against a Wukong (purple side). Now keep watching your minimap to see who of the enemy team comes later to their lanes and from which direction they come. If the bottomlane comes later or comes out of the jungle, then they probably helped Wukong at blue buff. Based on that information you can start to counterjungle him.
Time Bluebuffs/Redbuffs to keep counterjungling through the whole game.
Aslong as you know when buffs are back up, you are able to get them all! (Buff respawns after 5 minutes)
It also helps alot to share information with your teammates, when you know that enemy Bluebuff just respawned tell your midlaner that he should help you to secure it

Tip 3 - Map control
Map control is the key to victory and it is simple to achieve. After a successful gank start getting objectives (dragon/turrets). Once you killed dragon, time it as well to know when it respawns. Buffs respawn after 5minutes, dragon after 6 minutes, baron after 7 minutes.

You can instead also check all the respawn times in game (Above your scoreboard). (NEW CONTENT)
It only shows the times if you had vision on the objective the moment it got killed!

Objective steal
Lee Sin's Q+Smite combination is the ultimative objective secure/steal ability, due to the %-damage Resonating Strikes deals
