Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Hi, this is my first mobafire guide and i hope it will succeed, before we start please keep in mind that I'm not saying that this is THE ultimate way to play Gangplank, obviously there are many.(And you have to excuse my English, it's not my main language.) Thanks to Gerra for learning me the basics(Not starting with Dorans Shield xD)And to Oscar for "Boosting" me to my current level; 21 xD. Let's get started, shall we?
Pros / Cons
Extreme hardcarry, in my thought ^^
Able to 2-shot most non tanks
CC removal (doj!)
Can, with cooldown reduction almost spam Parrrley!
Parrley means AMAZING farm
A bit squishy (Not like Annie or Karthus, but a bit)
Is afflicted by scurvy (xD)
You want to crit as often and as hard as possible, and with the runes I've selected you can start with(almost) 18% and not to mention the increase in crit damage added (about 13%)
And finally, spamming Parrrley is fun as hell, so why not a bit of cooldown reduction?
It's awesome as hell! :D
Well, we all love flash, don't we? So what's wrong with reduced cooldown? But other than reduced cooldown in the other non damage tree we have 6+ to armor and resistance, why? Because you are squishy! And that's not fun, you don't want to end up like Annie, do you? But after that it's pretty straight forward, physical damage FTW!
Averice Blade, why? Because gold is key! Other than that i wanted as much crit as possible, because crit is baws, But criting without damage is pretty useless so i added some damage to it :)
Brawlers Gloves is a pretty cool starting item and is used for building your first "real" item: Averice Blade, because as i said up there^ Gold is key, and having an Averice Blade for 30 minutes is really awarding! You can choose between x2 Health or Health and Mana pot, it's totally up to you :)
Facing to many tanks:
Armor is your worst enemy, But here is what i do: If you are facing a feeded, really tanky Rammus with 500 armor you replace your Averice Blade with Last Whisper and your Executioners Calling with a Black cleaver. And BAM, From 500 to 183 in a couple off seconds
Extreme late game!:
This is by far the most fun part of the entire game.(For you^^) The enemies don't stand a chance, Start by building a Trinity Force, then sell your Averice Blade and buy a Infinity Edge, after that you want to get rid of that little pesky Executioners Calling and get a Bloodthirster, Farm it to max, get both buffs and PWN!
Well this is going to be a short one. (That's what she said!) If things don't go your way and you take massive damage in lane there is only one thing to do, max Remove Scurvy first and then Raise Morale (Dying is for the weak ^^) And the second thing is if you have a Jungler can max Remove Scurvy last and try to balance out Parrley and Raise Moral.
Flash is an easy choise, don't know why xD. But the main idea behind Ghost is to RUN away from ganks, you don't wanna be your teams feeder, Exhaust could also work the same way (Just not as good) and could be irreplaceable if you have a jungler. Other than that i think we are done here.
This will be the boring phase of the game were you will walk around dreaming of extreme late game ( I do anyways ^^) But this phase is equally important because without farming late game can never happen, but with a little help from Parrley farming is instantly made easy. You see, every time you last hit with parrrley you are awarded bonus gold, that + the extra damage and range made farming easy peasy for players all over the world.
Creeping / Jungling
In late game Jungling is awesome for "Feeding your Bloodthirster" I also heard that GP could be played as a jungler, but i never dared to try. Blue is really good for spamming parrrley.
On my "server" (nordic east) and my level 21 as said before team work hardly exists, you can't rely on your team mates to carry the **** for you. But cooperating with a jungler by using Raise Morale and stuff can be pretty effective, little things help to you know :)
That should about cover everything i know, go out there and make me proud!:D And always remember that listing to "You are A Pirate" could greatly increase results!
And for gods sake, don't start with Dorans Shield xD
