Kennen is a very strong champion in season 6. In this tank meta, kennen can use his mobility to your teams advantage freezing the enemy tanks in their place allowing your carries to get to the back line of the enemy team. His mobility also allows for you to avoid ganks and therefore waist the jungler's time, opening up other areas of the map for your teammates to exploit. Kennen is the perfect utility top laner that will counter this meta.

Kennen is a very versatile champion in terms of positions he can play. He can pretty much play everywhere except for jungle. In terms of fitting a top lane kennen into a team comp, you generally want to have a tanky support and a tanky jungler. It is also ideal if you have a AD mid laner as well. You can't always have this work out perfectly, and that is alright. Kennen can fit into a team comp where there is a lot of cc through out the team or multiple burst champions. Kennen in a well communicating team can do well with most team comps. Kennen can also be used as a hard engage champion to set up team fights for the mid laner and adc to burst down.

Kennen's laning phase depends mostly on the match up that you are in. The laning phase should be pretty easy against ap bruisers and you can at worst break even against most melee champions. Against tanky champs however, there could be more trouble, in this case just focus on farming which you can do with both auto attacking or using your "e" and "w" combo. If you lane is pushed up, look around the map to see if you can make a teleport play. Don't worry about having your lane pushed while you are away because kennen uses energy, allowing you to spam his "e" to get back to lane fast. Also in the laning phase make sure to keep the river warded to watch for possible ganks. If you see a gank coming you can easily avoid it with your "e" ability and don't have to flash, which allows for you to sustain longer and more safely.

When you play kennen, you can have a major impact on team fights through out the game. Kennen when played in the top lane thrives in games where there are many team fights were the enemy team is all grouped together. One of the biggest contributors to being a factor in team fights is the summoner spell teleport, which enables you to be able to get behind enemy lines undetected. The main way that kennen will influence the team fight is with a combo involving his ult, his "w" ability and the item zhonyas hourglass. The way that this works is by using your ult, going into the enemy team with your "e" ability, immediately using your "w" and then quickly activating the zhonyas active. What this combo will do for you is lock down the enemy team for the rest of your team to clean up. This is will only work however if your team communicates well, and you are willing to die for your team. If you use this strategy though, you will win the majority of the team fights you are involved in.
