Introduction

Hello everyone, my name is Celiniel (Eu West, Greece). I have been playing this game for about 1 year. I've been trying to have fun and learn more than the basics all this time! So, let me introduce you to my first guide on MOBAfire, about Lulu, the latest Support Champion released yet.

Please vote on the guide and leave a comment about anything you dont understand or for some suggestions! Thank you in advance.

Lore

Perhaps more than any other champion in the League, Lulu marches to the beat of her own drum. During her youth in Bandle City, she spent most of her time wandering alone in the forest or lost in a daydream. It wasn't that she was antisocial; the day-to-day bustle of Bandle City just couldn't compete with the vibrant world of her imagination. She saw wonder in places most people overlooked. This was how she found Pix, a fae spirit, pretending to be stuck in a birdhouse. Lulu's imagination distinguished her to Pix and he seized the opportunity to lure her into his world. He brought her to the Glade, the enchanted home of the fae, which lay nestled in a clearing in the woods. There the rigid properties of the outside world - things like size and color - changed as frequently and whimsically as the direction of the wind. Lulu felt at home in the Glade and she lingered there with Pix, fascinated by this secret place.

She quickly lost track of time. Her life in the Glade was comfortable and natural. She and Pix played fae games together, the sorts of games that she had been told were ''make believe''... and she got exceedingly good at them. It caught her by surprise when she suddenly remembered that she had left a life behind in Bandle City. The Glade had a way of making everything outside seem distant and surreal. Lulu decided to revisit her former home, to share some of the lovely things she'd learned, but when she and Pix returned the world had changed. Time, she discovered, was another property that behaved differently in the Glade, and centuries had passed while she was away. Lulu sought to reconnect to the residents of the outside world but her attempts had unfortunate results. She led all the children off to play hide and seek, temporarily changing them into flowers and animals to spice up the game, but their parents didn't appreciate her efforts. When the yordles insisted that she leave their land, she turned to a vibrant magical place where those with unusual gifts were not just accepted but adored: the League of Legends.

''The best path between two points is upside-down, between, then inside-out and round again.'' -- Lulu

  • On defence we get Armor + M. Res + Health. We dont want to be that squishy!
  • As long as we take Flash and Clairvoyance as summoner spells we want to take the appropriate mastery for them.
  • Mana regen is also good and with Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration and that early philosopher's stone you wont have mana issues.
  • Map awareness is a big thing so that 5% more vision helps.
  • Gold per Second is something you need along with your gold/second items and Greater Quintessence of Gold since you shouldn't be taking last hits as a support on the lane.
  • Extra gold in the beggining = more wards = Good!
  • A bit of experience is good too!
  • 6% Cooldown along with your items helps cap the CDR!
  • 15% Cooldown on your summoner spells.. Faster CV's more flashes!

Runes

Greater Mark of Magic Penetration Pretty standard for magic type champions!

Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration Nice mana regen synergizing well with the masteries and philosopher's stone as already mentioned.

Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist I was going for cooldown glyphs but with that build you cap it early enough without runes.. So extra tankiness for us!

Greater Quintessence of Gold As mentioned you need that Gold/Second because you dont farm last hits on your lane as a support.

Summoner Spells

My Choices:

I personally like Flash and Clairvoyance.

Flash can help in many ways, escape ganks, get near an ally to shield-ulti him in time and many more!

Clairvoyance since you are a support and want to provide vision for your team.

Other Choices:

Ghost can help escape or catch up too but you have your W for extra movement speed that's why i don't get it.

Exhaust, Surge and Ignite something that usually other roles need more than the support!

Teleport, Cleanse, Promote and Heal are all of them viable choices get them if they match your playstyle.
Not viable:

Revive We are trying to make you non squishy with that build so you aren't supposed to die that much.

Smite Supports don't jungle!

Clarity You will have nice mana pool and regen with this build you don't need that.

Abilities!

Ability Sequence

So, let's take a look on Lulu's abilities.

(Passive): Lulu has a pixie companion following her by default and assisting her in her auto-attacks. On every Lulu's level up Pix's hits become stronger starting from 15 ending to 117 Damage. Pix's attacks are 3 homing bolts that can be interrupted by other units like Caitlyn's Ace in the Hole with the only difference this includes minions!

(Active): Lulu and her pix both fire a projectile that slows and damages all enemy units it passes through. Even if they both hit the same target only one projectile deals damage and slow. I max it last because it has the same amount of slow on all levels, damage and duration changes though.

(Active): This is the unique ability Lulu has. If cast on an ally gives them a burst of movement speed and some Ability power for 5 seconds (can be cast on self). If cast on an enemy it Polymorph's them rendering them unable to use autoattacks or skills in that time, also slowing them by 60. I max it first and mainly use it on an enemy. I want to have fast cooldowns and maximum duration on that polymorph!

(Active): Again a "double" spell. If cast on ally shields them and sends pix to aid THEIR attacks for some time. If cast on enemy it deals damage and sends pix to follow them revealing their position on the map for some time. Max it second for nice shields!

(Active): This is a buff type spell, similar to Nasus's and Renekton's R but it can be cast on allied champions including herself. Upon cast enlarges the ally knocks back enemy units granting bonus health on the ally and a nice slow aura around them. Take at 6,11,16 As with most Ultimates!

Help, pix!

Need to say that there is a little trick with this skill.

In both cast situations the pix follows someone else than you, you can get advantage by this fact and use your your Glitterlance smart!

Remember that when using Glitterlance your pix fires a slow projectile too.. That means you can slow a group or a single enemy near an ally that is in your Help, Pix! range but they are far from your Glitterlance range. Shield him up and use the pix's bolt to slow them!

Same thing applies for an enemy you chase, you tag him with Help, Pix! and even if he flashes away or something, pix is still on him for 6 seconds and you can still slow him! And actually on 18 lvl with CDR capped you can slow him 2 times in that 6 seconds because of the 4 sec CD Glitterlance has!

Items

CORE ITEMS:

philosopher's stone kage's lucky pick

So, we get lane sustain through philosopher's stone, CDR by the Ionian Boots of Lucidity to protect our lane partner more, survivability through the Heart of Gold and a very nice amount of Gold/Second to power up our ward and item needs.
MID GAME ITEMS:

shurelya's reverie kage's lucky pick

We rush Aegis of the Legion to give a nice aura to our team and make us even less squishy. Then upgrade fast our philosopher's stone to Talisman of Ascension so we can use the active speed boost and get even more health!
LATE GAME ITEMS:

shurelya's reverie zeke's herald

By that point we need to finish our Randuin's Omen for the unique active that makes you a CC truck by yourself, its tankiness and the 5% more CDR. Make your Kindlegem as you sell your kage's lucky pick and right after you exchange your Ionian Boots of Lucidity for Mercury's Treads as you have more than 40% CDR and you dont need them any more..! Instead you get more M.ress and 35 Tenacity which is great! Zeke's herald is next as you already have your Kindlegem and it is a great aura item for your AD allies.

6TH-SITUATIONAL ITEM:

I usually after these go for potions Oracle's Elixir and more sight wards leaving the 6th slot empty for wards.. If you wanna go on and buy a 6th item i will just mention some that can help in my opinion! Its your choice though!

Abyssal Scepter More AP for shields, ulties and more damage. Also 20 M. Pen aura for your team.

Will of the Ancients AP and spellvamp aura for your team and you.

Banshee's Veil more ressists mana and health. Get it on heavy magic damage or heavy CC.

Locket of the Iron Solari Health regen aura and nice Active shield for all.

Thornmail Get it on heavy AD armed teams.

Guardian Angel Too much focus? Get this!

Warding

As you probably have already seen on the item sequence, as a support you need to get wards as much as possible! Vision is very important in this game and we also got a mastery point for extra 5% ward vision!

I believe that there is already a GREAT warding guide that will help you on anything if you haven't already read it. Here it is Panglot warding guide!
