The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Hello guys and welcome to my first build Of Lux. Lux is a Great champion that can be a Support or AP nuker. In this build I will show you how I play Lux as a AP nuker. I do not like the support Lux, and if you want to play a support, go play Janna or find another build.
The way to play lux is Alot of thinking " where will that enemy be in 1 second." So you need to land the skillshot wher you think the enemy is going to be. The two builds I will show you is a build going for alot of AP(my favorite) and the second one going for abit more Hp/mana/mregain.
Born to the prestigious Crownguards, the paragon family of Demacian service, Luxanna was destined for greatness. She grew up as the family's only daughter, and she immediately took to the advanced education and lavish parties required of families as high profile as the Crownguards. As Lux matured, it became clear that she was extraordinarily gifted. She could play tricks that made people believe they had seen things that did not actually exist. She could also hide in plain sight. Somehow, she was able to reverse engineer arcane magical spells after seeing them cast only once. She was hailed as a prodigy, drawing the affections of the Demacian government, military, and citizens alike.
As one of the youngest women to be tested by the College of Magic, she was discovered to possess a unique command over the powers of light. The young Lux viewed this as a great gift, something for her to embrace and use in the name of good. Realizing her unique skills, the Demacian military recruited and trained her in covert operations. She quickly became renowned for her daring achievements; the most dangerous of which found her deep in the chambers of the Noxian High Command. She extracted valuable inside information about the Noxus-Ionian conflict, earning her great favor with Demacians and Ionians alike. However, reconnaissance and surveillance was not for her. A light of her people, Lux's true calling was the League of Legends, where she could follow in her brother's footsteps and unleash her gifts as an inspiration for all of Demacia.
''Her guiding light makes enemies wary, but they should worry most when the light fades.''
-- Garen, The Might of Demacia
Pros / Cons
- Great nuker
- long range
- Great in team fights
- Funny to play
- Good in early, mid and late game
- hard to play
- Need to play her alot to learn her skillshots
Lux Tips (Taken from League of Legends)
Playing as Lux:
- lux has great zone control abilities. Try to set up Lucent singularity to prevent enemy`s advance or escape.
- If you have trouble landing Prismatic Barrier, remember that it returns to you after it reaches max range. Try positioning yourself to hit your allies with its return trip
- Lucent Singularity is a great scouting tool. Try throwing it into brush before walking into it to check for ambushes.
Playing Against Lux
- Lux has powerful zone control abilities. Try to spread out and attack from different directions so she cannot lock down a specific area.
- When retreating with low health, be prepared to dogde Lux`s Finales Funkeln, a red targeting beam fires prior to the main beam, so try to move to the side if possible.
Ok, let start with the runes.
For Quintessence I go for Quintessence of Potency. Get the 15+ AP in start is really great for Lux. I do not like the Quintessence of Force, because it doesnt really give you that much as Force. In lvl 10 you have the equal amount, and in lvl 18 Quint of Force gives you 2+ AP for each rune.
For Glyphs I go for Glyph of Force. Why dont I go Potency? Because already at lvl 4 you get the equal amount of AP, and lux does normally not get a kill before lvl 6.
With Seal you can choose either Seal of Clarity or seal of replenishment. It really doesnt matter, but I`m using Seal of Clarity
For marks Mark of Insight is abseloutly the best mark for Lux. You really need 9+ Mpen in start!
Ok, I do not think I need to explain so much with the mastery build.
It is not much difference from team 1 lux and team 2 lux. In Team 1 you really need the extra duration on neutoral buffs, like baron, lizard and Golem. With team 1 you want to have your golem buff all the time.
Ok, for Team 2 lux you are wondering: WTF, why switch out Precense of the masterwith burning embers? Yes I do, because I, my self, really like the 10+ AP in early game. Then u can go and waste your ignite without worrying that u really need it. Your strong if you got ignite or not. 10 + AP equals it.
For summoner spells I like Clarity and ghostfor build 1. For the second build ghostand igniteis really nice. The second build you build more Mana reg and mana, so you really dont need the clarity.
Other summoner spells:Is just great if you are going more support, or noone have it on your team.
Flash is a ok summoner spell, but I prefer Ghost.
Teleport is a great spell for Lux, its really your choice.
Well, its ton of other summoner spells on lux, but this is who I prefer to use.
ok. Lets start with build 1I always start with a Dorans rind. This Items give Health, Mana regain and AP! With this you should have 30-40 AP in start, and alot of health and the Mana regain is really nice for the laning phase! YES PLEASE!
First time you recall you want to consider how the game goes. Do you dominate the lane? If you do so you should rush a Mejas Soulstealer. If you are not dominating the lane you want to buy Amplifying Tomeand speed boots. maybe Soreceres shoesif you got the money. Then you should buy mejas. Why buy mejas if game not going good? Because you can really get some easy stacks with your ultimate.
With this I say you SHOULD have before mid game:
ok, some1 wonder, why rush Deathcap? Because LUX OWNS MID GAME!! So you should abseloutely have 300-600AP after 30 minutes. After 30 minutes you should have 10 Stacks - + if you have played your role(Can even be a ****py game).
ok, 10 stacks = 80 AP + 15Ap, 150AP= 245AP + 30% = Approximate 350AP.
Ok the next item are really up to enemy team: if you are getting focused:. This is great item if you are getting targeted heavy + 100AP. Best in that situation. ( I am always going this item tbh.) this works with ignite, but u CANT use it in a stun/silence/etc.
The 5th item should be Lich Bane. This gives lux SO MUCH MORE DAMAGE. This is a item that YOU MUST HAVE.
The 6th item is oppinual. You can go a Void Staffor you can go Rylais Crystal Scepter that gives her HP,AP + Slow.
If you are having huge problem with mana and NOT getting blue buff, go for a Archangel Staff
In my second build you build up your AP abit slower, but u get more hp/mana/mreg.
In the second build I start with the same items. Dorans Ringthen go for a Amplifying tomeand Boots of SpeedThen I build for Mejais Soulstealer. When done with that upgrade your boots to Sorceroes ShoesThen we go for Archangel Staffand Rod of Ages.
The 5th item must be Rabadons DeatcapThis gives you ALOT more AP and it is needed for every caster/AP nuker!
The 6th item is ofcourse Lich BaneThis gives you alot more Damage
Illumination is Lux passive. Every time a enemy gets hitted by some of Lux ability, he gets a debuff that you can proc with a basic Attack. This deals 20-190 dmg(depending on Lux level). This does great damage IF you get the combo right. You should always try to harrass enemies in early game, and get the proc off on the enemies you are laning versus.
Light Binding is Lux first ability. This can stuck a enemy and It hits 2 enemies. Just remember you can hit minions with this! But if the enemy is standing right behind minions you can hit him with the second hit on Light Binding. This will stuck im for half time from the first ability, and it will deal 50% Dmg. This is the ability you want to rank up second.
This ability is probably the hardest skill shot on lux, and doesnt do so good damage, but the stuck is great for engaging fights and get some easy harras in lanes.
Prismatic barrier is Lux second ability. This gives a shield on every ally you hit with it. This is more if you want to go support style lux, but if you want to go AP nuker, you want to rank this up last.
Lucent singularity is Lux third ability. This is the ability that deals most damage with Lux(except ulti) and is the esiest one to land. You can use this ability for some easy harass, and you can also scout with it. You always want to rank op your E ability first, Lucent Singularity.
Finales Funkeln is Lux Ultimate, and this is the ability that makes Lux fun to play. This is a Lazer beam that deals ALOT of damage and is almost impossible to dogde. The cooldown on this is so low, that you can use this to clear minion waves, harass team before teamfights and lots of other stuff. (great for killstealing)
I will go closer into Abilities in my Video.
Well Lux combo is:But she really dont got a main combo, so you want to Proc your passive to deal as much damage as possible
TRY TO ALWAYS PROC YOUR PASSIVE!
Lux laning is not that strong. As your lane partner you do want to have a fighter or a tank. You can also go for a mage, but I that doesnt work in all combinations. I can say it like this NEVER GO WITH A SUPPORT To lane with a support is a bad idea. Because, your damage together is ****py.
Where to Lane? Lux is a champion that can go all lanes. She can go Mid, Solo lane, and Dual lane. Shes really one of the strongest champions in a 1v2 Lane, because you can get a really easy kill with Finalis Funkeln and you got that really long RANGE.
The best laner in my opionion with lux, is Xin Zaho.
In lane you want to harass the enemies that much that they are at 200-300HP at lvl 6. if they are you get your first kill and hopefully firstblood in level 6.
You got this problem that the enemies is hugging turret all the time? No problem for lux, you just use your range. Even if they are close to turret u get some easy harras on them, but you will probably not get your "perfect combo."
Her farming is Ok, not the best. In lane you can throw your E on all of the minions, and then it should be very easy to get the last hit with your passive on them. In later game you can use your ulti without to worry on cooldown, even on minion waves. You never want to use your Q ability on minions. Your E is good enough for farming. And your auto attacks is more then enough to last hit too
Lux is a hard to play champion. You need to know when to use your skills and where. In teamfights you ALWAYS want to take down the carries, and with your long range, that shouldnt be that big trouble. Your Q ability is really nice if you can hold of some meele champions from yourself or other carries. but, YOU ALWAYS WANT TO STAND BEHIND THE TANKS If you go in front, you have failed. Suddenly Xin zaho, evelynn or some other assasin jumps on you. Not a good idea to leave group or go in front of tanks.
I have probably said this earlier, but the key to Lux is movement prediction. You need to find out where the enemy will be in 2 seconds, when you cast your abilities. Example: In lane you want to study the champion you play versus. Does he goes left, right, forward or back when he tries to dogde your e ability. If he goes all the time to left, place it abit to left for him, and the same with the other.Hopefully you get it by what I just told youMovement prediction is the key to Lux.
First off? What is Zone control? Well zone control is that you control a zone. This means that in this Zone, the enemy do NOT want to go into that area, and need to go around. Lux got 1 ability that grants her zone control, her E ability. Her E ability is great for granting this zone control.
As you see in this picture Olaf do not want to go into my E ability. This grant me zone control.
If you combine this ability by placing it into a wall, he got only 1 way to get to you. Go around. If he does this, you get a easy shot with your Q ability.
This can be useful for you sometimes, but not always. In most cases you want to use your E ability to do damage.
Well. this really doesnt have anything about Lux to do, but I want to mention this because so many are doing wrong with warding!
Never do thisInstead of placing it inside, place it abit outside. This gives you vision of river and the dragon/baron.
Some nice warding places:
Thank you for reading my build. If you got any questions please comment or rate and
GO OUT AND GET SOME KILLS WITH YOUR LAZER!=D
