Mejais and occults are two snowball items that would be promising early to mid game, but i would suggest just selling it after mid game and get an item with much more utility.

as they said that extra AP would be godly specially if your opponent rushed rabaddon. you would be ahead for quite a while but after he start making his build that extra ap would become less effective so buying a defensive or situational item would be much more efficient.

I'm not saying that I personally use it I agree with your statement but I'm saying that in some situations it's viable so it deserves a spot on the situational items list, also even if you go 6-0 in a game if the game has a low total kill count and everyone is focussing on objectives then it is useless as you won't pick up stakcs and it will become inefficient but in a high kill game where you aren't getting killed often then it is an option but still a big gamble.

I dislike Mejai's because it's a snowball item. It's so absurdly inefficent it isn't even funny, unless you go on an ungodly killing spree. It takes 5 stacks (which is 2 kills and an assist, without deaths), to become cost efficient. Seems reasonable. But as the game goes on, it becomes slot inefficient unless you maintain and gain stacks. And a single death can cause a huge AP loss that you really can't afford to have in the late game. Sure, it's a fine item if you're pubstomping. But it also puts a target on your head. I've had several games where I was able to turn a game because the enemy wasted money buying a Mejai's instead of a reliable item, and we were able to pick him off. With a Mejai's, all deaths instantly become "not worth", since they are not only gaining the gold for killing you but also causing you to effectively lose gold.

In short, it doesn't matter that Lux can utilize Mejai's better than most. Mejai's is a gamble of an item that pays off infrequently, and rarely in the late game.

@ GMD I'm just saying that if you are confident or a very good lux player and you think that you will be able then it's worth the risk also like thepuma3 said if they focus you to take down your stacks but you get their adc and with the amount of AoE you will have taken a huge amount of health off of most of the other people.

Then you die once and lose a third. Deathcap gives the same (if not more once fully built) ap than soulstealer, no one really needs the item. Also, cdr can be obtained from unholy grail + blue buff.

I'm not saying it's inredibly bad, I just don't think it's ever worth the risk.

I agree that it is a risky item, but also by the time you get 20 stacks, it will probably be late game. And if you happen to use all of your abilities off to kill their carry or a couple players on their team get injured then you'll have done your job. So what if they focus you down to kill your stacks. The fact they do that is that they waste all their ults and ccs on you, a carry that has already used their spells. Now your adc is free of cc to let him do consistent damage. You already did your burst, so if they try to kill you after your burst, you will die but they will be aced more than likely since you still have your adc and they shouldn't (granted you killed their adc)

@ GMD at 20 stacks it gives you tons of ap and some CDR which is essential for lux

Continuing with my previous comment I'm not saying I like the build order I personally don't agree with it as the build order I use as lux works well for me still +1 it is a nice informative guide and even though I don't agree with or use it it would still be a viable way to build her.

Chu8 has used Mejai's successfully at Challenger. It's perfectly fine for soloqueue if you like to gamble rather than building a reliable item lead. I don't really recommend it but it's usually pretty easy to keep the stacks on Lux, unless the enemy team has some hardcore assassins like Kha'Zix and Zed.

I'd still say it's a rather bad item. Even at 20 stacks it does nothing but give you damage, there's zero utility to it. Sure you can snowball pretty well with it but personally I prefer the utility of other items. However, it's still viable ofc. Champs like Lux, Xerath and Kassadin can pull it off.

Mejai's is an extremely risky item but on a long range mage like lux it is relatively safe, I still wouldn't recommend it unless you are a new player or new to the champion. Also it is in the possible items section so that means that you should use it at your own discretion so it's for you to decide, I personally don't use it often but it is viable so there is no reason why it shouldn't be a possible item.
