Pros / Cons

+ Incredible poke (point and click)
+ Passive shield OP in laning phase
+ Very good utility kit for late game
+ Still useful after a bad laning phase with you slow, attack speed decrease and knockup.

- Extremely mana hungry early game
- No real kill potential till level 6

Runes

Magic pen. runes make your Q deal more damage early on than ability power runes.

Armor runes for obvious reasons. We are building tank, not full AP like the wannabees ;)

Since I play with only one rune page for malphite, i take magic resist. If you can afford dedicating 2 rune pages you can take one with scaling magic resist if you're up against AD champions.
