I agree that shells are realy good for malphite early game but by the time, you get 4 of those, the game should be more or less at lvl 14-15 if you are doing OK on last hitting on the lane since you dont expect getting great amount of kills as a tank :)
By this kind of lvl item that gives 200HP is pretty weak, and you will not benefit from those shells much since you will now already sell them to buy better items so the gold-per-10 will be wasted.
As for Tank build Malphie your farming abilities are quite low even with the splash. Your mana pool will be low due to must usage of skills to kill creeps fast and efficient, and that might screw up the teamfight coz you could be oom.

getting 2+aegis should be enaugh imho.

Runes/Masteries to do.

Good overwiev, but i dont think that stacking that many shells is realy needed. You will hit 20-30 min game when you get all of those and tbh most games i play with Malphite dont take longer than 35-40mins. Ofc its a great item early game since it gives you absolutly everything you need as a maplhite tank but is it realy worth it to stack them like this?

The deal with Turtleshells is that they have everything Malphite needs, they give him some Gold per second so you can let other characters on your team get the big creep waves while you focus more on teambattles or farming the remaining ones.

This is just a Basic guide with a Basic build, you can change it up and tune it to suit your playing style :)

This build has really helped me step my Malph game up.

A few questions/quibbles, though.

1. What runes do you set up? I have quints and marks for Magic Pen, Seals for Armor, CD reduc on glyphs.

2. Your skill level up seems a bit off. Not getting even one point in Brutal Strikes till late game slows down your last hitting, and therefor, your gold build-up. I realize this is off-set by your turtle shell stacking, but, just sayin. I go Shard to start, Slam on 2, BS on 3, shards on next two levels, then Ult. Shard is always priority because of range damage/slow scaling.

1. You can use any Runes and Masteries you want, CD and Magic Pen seem like the best to me and that's what i use.

2.I don't focus on farming with Malphite, when i hit 6 i normally follow people from my team, always focusing more on team battles and letting more 'important' characters farming, that's why i do so many shells and focus more on battle his other skills.

Veil gives some good MR,Health and Mana, which you need for malphite so he can use his skills properly, it will also reduce magic damage enough so it won't hurt to Stack Turtleshells even if you are against a Magic Damage team.
