This is my build for focusing on my burst damage combo, if used correctly can take down even the beefiest of tanks.
The burst combo goes like this, in a 1v1 or team fight situation, pick your target but DO NOT be out front because as you well know if you have ever played Malzahar you are very squishy if Zhonya's is on CD. Once you have your target preferably the enemy carry or DPS or whoever you feel is the most threat at the time other than the tank (unless the tank is the only one alive) then you cast Malefic Visions on them wait for a tick or two if they do not run from you and are in position to do so then you cast Null Zone under them then immediately to prevent them from running from it cast Nether Grasp + Ignite for the guaranteed kill (given they have no escape mechanism) and you win the fight.
In late game you can follow with your Call of the Void on healers who may have just barely survived to prevent a heal and get the possible kill.
This guide is not in depth and is NOT by any means the best build out there this is just how I play Malzahar you may tweak and customize as you see fit, but the amount of burst you have on single targets with this build and spell combo is ridiculous to say the least.
