That is not right actually you can control your pet with maleficic vision.
Where ever maleficic is there your pet will attack.

If you started with a Doran's Ring and got/maxed your Malefic Visions theres really no need for the Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration as long as you keep the dot jumping.

the skill order i use (1-9) is Malefic Visions -> Null Zone -> Malefic Visions -> Call of the Void -> Malefic Visions -> Nether Grasp -> Malefic Visions -> Null Zone -> Malefic Visions

you want to level your Null Zone so when you hit them with Nether Grasp in it you can do massive damage fast
