This is my first build on Moba, so please bear with me. I play Malzahar like most people play Vladimir. I'm not the best player in the game, but I do know how to build my champions and play them fairly well.

Pros:

With this build you have a lot more survival than most others
You can tank turrets if the tank isn't around mid to late game
Silencing and doing massive aoe damage in team fights
1v1 almost anyone late game if played correctly
Able to push back the best of players
Great harassing ability
Able to lane for ages if vision is used correctly

Cons:

Some champions are just built to shut you down (Xin / Tryndamere)
No escape, but summoner spells make up for this
Not an easy champion the master

Runes:

Marks - Magic Penetration
Seals - Ability Power Per Level
Glyphs - Ability Power Per Level
Quintessence - Flat Ability Power

Items:

Start off with a Sapphire Crystal, Health Potion, and a Mana Potion and head for mid. While in middle make sure to mow down creep waves with Visions for continuous mana regen. Once you end up back at the starting area get Tear of the Goddess, Boots (this all depends on how much CC the other team has, if there is a lot grab Mercury's Treads if not grab Sorcerer's Shoes). Next is Majai's Soulstealer, with this you get a bit of a ability power boost for assists and kills, and with this build assists are fairly easy to come by if your team and you have half a brain. Then grab Catalyst the Protector, this will help you keep your mana up early game. Note all these first items are fairly cheap and even if you have just been farming up middle lane they will all come pretty quickly. This is where it gets expensive, when you have enough go ahead and grab Two Blasting Wands to prepare for Archangel's Staff and Rod of Ages. I usually grab Rod of Ages first for the extra health boost mid game. Once you get those I suggest you buy Two Giant's Belts or Just get Warmog's Armor. Typically you won't finish this build since it gets quite expensive, but I assure you will almost get to Warmog's in a 40 min match. Grab Rylai's Crystal Scepter if you can and finish the damned game.

Masteries

9/0/21

Grab the typical caster 9 in offence
Improved Ghost and Flash for extra survival in utility

Summoner Spells:

As stated above I get Ghost and Flash for survivability, being able to ghost and flash out of a failed team fight or just to get away in general these are the best in my oppinion.

Flash can also be used as a great tool to 1v1 someone in the middle lane or just to catch someone running and ult them so your team can catch up. I usual drop a Null Zone on top of them flash in and Grasp them, as it ends I put Visions on them and lead them with Call of the Void.

Tactics:

As a caster you should never be the one who runs in first, even late game when you have around 4000 health, it just should never be done. Let your team run in first and make sure to play it behind them. Once battle commences throw Call of the void and Null Zone and try to hit as many as possible. You won't have to lead much with call beacuse it is usually a big cluster of bodies. Once you've done that try to get visions on the lowest target and Nether Grasp them. Rense and repeat. Make sure to stay out of the battle to be able to retreat if something goes wrong. You should be basiclly silencing and dropping Null Zone on as many enemy champions as possible, once again this is fairly easy if you play back.

Some games I've played recently.
