This build is really only for myself so i can remember what items to get during a game, but you can use it too if you feel that it works for you. I play Maokai like an AP tank. I buy all the gold for 10 items, but you really only need the 1st two. After that i go lots for tanky items that give me health, mana and Ap. Sadly with this build you will rarly get all the items and also with get few kills. What this build allows you to do though is stay alive in team fights so you can help you team with your ulti. My average on this build has been a 3/2/11. you cant do much damage on your own but matched with say ashe or caitlyn you will be geting ***aists all game long and killing towers like you were made to do it.

The runes i chose will help both in late game and early game. The health quints will help early game to help you stay alive. The magic resist glyphs will help all game because i noticed that my build is very armor based and was lacking in magic resist. So that balances those things out. The man per 5 seals help all game since maokai runs on his spells and mana. And finally the magic pen marks to make sure those spells do some more damage.

Maokai relys on team work. Without team work you might as well give up right off the get go. Without a carry or at least and off tank you have no chance of getting kills with Maokai. but once you and your significant other in your lane get a stategy going you will mop the floor with your enemys blood and then cover that up with the rubble from the turrets your killing. keep your map awareness about you thouhg. you can take a sneak attack, but if your bot and mid needs some help it may take you a few seconds to get there to help.

I tend to farm by throwing in my sapling on the back three long rang minion and then attack the front three. The sapling explodes and usally the back three are dead and it only takes a bit to take the front three. Farming gets me some cash, but i don't rely on it.
