Master Yi Build
Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Hello to my Master Yi guide. This built aims to deal the maximum possible damage. This build is specialized for Dominion but I used to play it nearly the same way in 3v3 and 5v5 and it works as well. But dominion makes it much easier because a death is not that a mess.
English is not my mothertongue so please excuse my rather poor english.
This is a very early version thinking of explanation etc., plz have this in mind. Further this build is not very determine.
Enjoy this Guide
Why these kind of runes?
The greater quintessences with 10 armor penetration are helping you dealing more damage.
Maximizing armor penetration will help me deal more damage to enemies.
The other runes are mixed. Why?
I think the mixture of different runes makes you more flexible than just using on kind of.
But again this is up to you. I might chance it as well
If you are playing 3v3 or 5v5 take
quite early to get some heal.
To start with good damage skill twice Alpha Strike and once Wuju Style. The 50 extra damage from tier 2 Alpha Strike will help you capturing the top turret. Always keep Alpha Strike as high as possible. At Level 9 you should already have tier 5. Why is it that way?
The extra damage from skilling it is enormous. Even when not playing with ability power Alpha Strike does good damage. When it is not possible to skill Alpha Strike you should skill Wuju Style. There is a need for the extra physical damage as well.
I do not skill Meditate because I think the benefit of it is far to less compared with the benefit of more damage. Especially when you are playing Dominon there is not that much need for heal.
Of course skill Highlander whenever possible.
This is my way to maximize damage with the Master Yi Ability Sequence.
Use of Skills
In this chapter I'd like to explain the use of your abilities.
Use Alpha Strike to get close to you enemy's champions. You might also use it to push a lane. The 120 extra Gold for one Wave of Minions is quite easy to get with Alpha Strike. It deals good damage, although it correlates with ability power which is not used in this build.
To be honest this is a quite useless ability. It gives you armor and magic resistance and health but in an useless amount. Playing Master Yi differently it can be quite good.
Wuju Style: A very useful ability. I think there is nothing to say about the passiv. The activ is nice to get the kill. Use it when going in a fight! Remember that Master Yi is still a auto hit hero.
Highlander: Fantastic ability to get fleeing enemies and of course the extra attack speed is fantastic. If you are quite sure to get a kill or at least a assist you might use it to catch you enemy. When you are killing someone in while Highlander is on all cooldowns are reseted. Very useful to get the kill and start just again with the next fight because there is no cooldown.
Use Alpha Strike to get close to your enemys. Use Wuju Style and/or Highlander to get the kill. You should also remember that you are unattackable while jumping with Alpha Strike. When you are using Highlander killing a enemy resets all cooldowns. You might use it to get rid of your cooldown.
The best combination of summoner spells is the one used here. This built just thinks about how to deal maximum damage. In my opinion Flash is -- even after the nerv -- awesome! Flash out of the area of danger. Ignite is a good opportunity to deal some extra damage. Because this built is made for dominion Ignite is nice to deal the extra damage capturing the top point just in the beginning of the game. Beside that it also reduces healing effects. Surge might also be a possibility but I used to play with Ignite. Ignite's range is quite okay so fleeing enemys get a hit as well. It's up to you!
In my opinion Master Yi needs crit chance, crit damage, attack speed and attack power. To get started buy Berserker's Greaves and Dagger. You can buy a healing potion -- I don't do the usually.
The next step is to get some assists and kills from the top raid. Avoid going bottom. There is no sense in doing so. If top works you should get at least 2 assists. You should be able to buy Zeal straight away.
Buying the B.F. Sword might be a weakness playing this build in 3v3 or 5v5 but in dominion the amount of money is no problem. Especially having a good team makes it easy to get your items rather fast! To get some life steal I but Vampiric Scepter. Do not buy the Pickaxe before Cloak of Agility because you might need the 18% crit chance. Completing the Infinity Edge is a huge boost for you. From now on 1v1 fights are quite easy.
Make up the Phantom Dancer by buying Cloak of Agility and Dagger.
Get Zeal before buying another B.F. Sword and get the Sanguine Blade.
The last item is quite diffuse. You might buy Zeke's Harbinger, The Black Cleaver, Youmoo's Ghostblade or anything you like.
I prefer Youmoo's Ghostblade because of Armor Penetration.
Because this build is also used in 5v5 or 3v3 the very first item in Classic is Doran's Blade.
Pros / Cons
- Lots of damage
- Very nice 1v1s
- Very good for Dominion because of speed
- Easy gameplay
- Not the best teamplayer
- Little Health, needs goot team mates
Master Yi is the Champion I play most.
This build puts damage first. This means a lot of damage, crit and attack speed but also less health. This is no problem when playing with friends and focus on teamwork. In Dominion there is often no teamplay. This build will suck without teamplay.
I hope you enjoy it and I appreciate comments.
Thanks for reading.
