Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Lux -The Common Misconception-
The first thing you must learn before selecting Lux as a champion is this; Lux is not Support. Yes, her character info claims her to be a support type champion but in all truth, she is a hard hitting ap carry. (that happens to also have a shield). I have not, and you will not, ever see a full support Lux. why is this? She hits way too hard and get way too many kills to be under the classification of support.
Runes -Any way you cut it-
I went with the solid Magic pen Marks and manna per 5 seals (per level) and per level AP glyphs a as for Quints I went with flat AP . The reason i did this set up is because Lux is a great Mid lane Champ, and being mid lane she will be leveling much faster than the side lanes, making the per level seals and per level glyphs really worth it for her. As for quints, the idea here is to stack as much AP as possible to really get the most bang for your buck.
Masteries -Wax on, Wax off-
I went with a pretty generic 9/0/21 mastery build. Of course getting Haste and Blink of an eye is a must if you choose Ghost, and flash as your summoner abilities. The rest is pretty self explanatory as far as caster masteries go.
This is my suggested item build sequence.
I start off with Boots of speed 2 health potions and 1 manna potion . I may get some criticism for this starting item build, but let me explain why I don't start with a Dorans ring . The stats of the Dorans ring is nice dont get me wrong, but by mid to late game it's either sold, or not helping near as much as when you were lvl 1-6. To me, its a wast of gold to buy an item that you plan to just sell back. Instead, i get my boots of speed first (the movement speed advantage that early does wonders for harassing and dodging lethal skill shots) because it can then be turned into one of your core items early on, the Sorcerer's Shoes After you've picked up your Sorcerer's shoes you can then proceed to build your Mejia's (I don't personally get the Mejia's soulstealer, I usually rush my hat first. But if you plan on snowballing then Mejia's is a great pick, but optional in my opinion.) After you get mejia's(or if you dont get mejia's go straight here) you need to rush your Rabadons deathcap . I would then proceed to build your Void Staff (the Magic Pen will give you that dmg boost you need against those Magic resist champs.) From there i usually go with the Zonyas Hourglass (on of the most underestimated items in the game. but with 50 armor, 100 Ap AND the ability to make you momentarily invincible, whats not to like?) Of course banshee's veil is to be picked up if you're having survive-ability issues.
Skill Sequence -Up, Down, Left, Right, B, A, Start-
As I said before, Lux is an AP carry. You may be tempted to max her W Prismatic Barrierfirst. But you should be maxing her main damage ability first. Lucent Singularityis Lux's bread and butter ability. You want to max this first and fast. not only does it slow any enemy within it's radius, but it also explodes for massive AoE dmg, and puts Lux's passive debuff illuminationon everyone that was hit. I suggest putting one point into light bindingat the start of the game for First blood, but leaving it alone after that. Dump all extra points into your shield if you cant put any in your E or Ult. Her shield mitigates massive amounts of damage when you put a few points into it, compared to the mediocre dmg her snare would do with the points.
Flash The ability to catch up to a fleeing enemy, or to GTFO when the going gets tough. this is always my first choice.
Ghost The same goes for Ghost as it does for flash, it gives you that much needed mobility
Clarity In my opinion clarity is a very viable choice. it gives you the ability to out lane any other champ an get the much needed exp an gold. But some people will QQ and Razz you for selecting this spell.
She out ranges most other champs considering everyone of her abilities are skill shots(even her shield)
She hits hard ANS mitigates damage
Her ult is a giant laser lolwut
Shes is squishy.
Once she does her rotation, if the enemy isn't dead, you probably are.
shes often targeted first.
Playing Lux - ;) -
Lux has a pretty simple rotation. Q->E->R->(release E) this rotation will kill almost any champ at any point in the game. Ideally, you want to snare the enemy(get in an auto attack), throw your E on them(dont blow it up yet!), Launch your Ult(get in an auto attack) then blow up your E and get in that last auto attack if they arent dead.
