Mordekaiser Build Guide by Frost Bite

Hi. Im Frostbite and this is my first guide :D. Mordekaiser is one of my favorite champions in the game. I'd like to thank my friend who got me back into Mord during his big nerf. Our builds are similar but we build his items in different orders.

If you have come here and you don't like the build i do have some good tips so please take them into consideration :D

People say Mordekaiser is op.... I agree with that fact ONLY IF hes is played right. REMEMBER Mord is VERY item and level dependent so if you can stop his farming u can make him literally useless.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
If you get fed it's pretty much gg
Can turn teamfights around easily especially 4v5's
Amazing farmer! (USE THIS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!!)
His build is not terribly expensive so you can get full build pretty early (farm lots.)
1v1 or 2v1 hes AMAZING!
You have a damage absorbing shield.... nuff said

Cons:
Kinda weak before level 6
----> VERY <---- item and level dependent. So if someone is smart enough to stop you from farming before level 6 or through the game you become kinda useless.

Skill Sequence

Q Mace of Spades W Creeping Death E Siphon of Destruction
R Children of the Grave

This may be different then what other people do. Most people max E first but u only need about level 3 E because before level 6 it is mostly used as a harass and farming tool but then after 6 u want to deal as much damage as possible and your Q will fill that spot the best because 1. maxed out it has less of a CD then siphon and 2. if your 1v1ing it deals a **** ton of damage and 3. it resets ur auto attack. resetting ur auto attack may not seem much but i mean, every point of damage counts ;)

Basic combo is W to get into the fight Q then E and continue that till they get low enough then Q-E-IGNITE-ULT or Q-E-ULT-IGNITE which ever seems possible or seems best. IMO i'd ignite before ult because ignite has a smaller range so after u ult or ignite they will most likly start to run. Mord's ult has a big range so i prefer igniting over ulting first.

Items

Now i have 2 builds in there one for if you going solo top or mid and it depends really upon what type of damage they do.

IMPORTANT!!!!!: NEVER EVER DUAL LANE!!!!!! MORD AS I HAVE SAID BEFORE IS REALLY ITEM AND LEVEL DEPENDENT SO IF YOU GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE WHO ALSO NEEDS FARM AND LEVEL (SUPPORTS NEED LEVELS SO THEY WILL TAKE EXP) YOU ARE JUST SCREWING YOURSELF OVER.

All build start with Regrowth Pendant because its a great item for him because he uses hp as a resource and if ur injured u can just exp farm and get back in when u have healed some hp. Also my friend conviced me that CDR Ionian Boots of Lucidity is much better then the 20 Magic pen Sorcerer's Shoes because u can get ur skills off faster and they do more damage then 20 extra MP. Plus CDR boots are much cheaper then Sorcerer's Shoes

VS AP AND AD:
Here u want to get force of nature as one of ur first items because if your mid against somone like Leblanc then even getting the Negatron Cloak will help GREATLY.
IMPORTANT!!: you want to get Rylai's Crystal Scepter ASAP so you almost want to be building both items at once so u can get a Negatron Cloak and then build Rylai's Crystal Scepter then finish Force of Nature but its all situational. thats really the beef of the build is the early game and the rest is obviously situational.
Same for AD get Warden's Mail ASAP its a cheap item and OMG is it even awesome. as soon as u get this AD people will be tickling you will just this item because of the % slow it makes 1v1ing them easy as playing Master Yi.

BASE ITEMS:
Ionian Boots of Lucidity Rylai's Crystal Scepter Will of the Ancients Lich Bane
These items are you base because they help you in great ways. Lich Bane pretty much makes u the best 1v1er because you Q lets say ashe. You Q-E-R maybe Ignite and shes dead. Now u got her soul (hoping thats shes got at least Infinity Edge or some dmg then you GG it. Then your tanky items can be whatever iv just given you a idea of what to get to make u successful. Items like Thornmail in some circumstances will be needed. Not often but u may need it.

Runes & Masteries

Offensive tree pretty obvious U WANT TEH DAMAGE!!! 1 more in Havoc then Mental Force because 1 ap I dont think is better then .5% more dmg to everything else.

I chose defence tree because we arn't shooting for Hextech Revolver first we need some sort of early game health and sustain so thats where the defence tree comes in. i think the more health far surpasses the rush for revolver. because then ur harder to kill and u have a shield anyway.

Runes:
Pretty standard i guess. Magic pen, Magic resist for those pesky burst mages for early game, and of course MORE HEALTH just because it really does help to have pretty much 100 extra hp early game. Now i ahve to quin in there because either one would work. i havn't gotten around to trying AP per level but i feel it could work. Flat ap will really only make ur early game that much better. What im trying to do in a sense is to fill Mord's weak spots for early game but it also makes him much for powerful so he isnt so weak before level 6.

Summoner Spells

Flash Ignite

These 2 SS IMO are the best because Flash fills Mord's lack of escapes and ignite helps you secure a Ult soul.
IMPORTANT!: IMO IGNITE SHOULD NEVER BE TRADED OUT. FLASH CAN BE TRADED OUT ON PLAYERS PREFERENCES BUT IGNITE IS THE BEST SS ON MORD BECAUSE WHERE MORD SHINES IS GETTING SOULS FROM HIS ULT.

Others spells

Teleport iv seen people use this before to tele to other lanes to get kills but it ahs a long CDR and mord needs escape more IMO
Ghost Meh. i think flash has more uses then this
Exhaust i feel this one could be good it has some escape ability and if no one on ur team has it pick it up and then it makes you 1v1ing much more stronger
Heal once u get hextech revolver this will pretty much become useless and u got ur ult to heal u lots also.

Farming

THIS IS EXTREAMLY IMPORTANT BECAUSE HE IS SOOOOOOOOO ITEM AND LEVEL DEPENDENT. YOU GOAL AS MORD SHOULD BE FROM 100-200 BEFORE 20 MINS. AND JUST TO LET YOU KNOW 100 IS PUSHING IT U WANT ALMOST 150. THE ONLY TIME 100 IS OK IS IF YOU ARE GETTING LOTS OF KILLS.

that pretty much covers it and this is why mord should also be in some sort of solo lane.

One good tip is to try to hit the champion with ur E and try to hit minions at the same time because then u get LOTS of shield from it.

2v1 LANES!

These lanes imo and happen top in normal queue are potentially the most fun lanes you can have. because usually these lanes happen because of friends who want to lane together and dont want to jungle. plus they are usually lane comps that u wont normally see so pretty much its a lane that wont do very good. Now to the meat and the potato of why they are so fun.

First off if you dont die and at least just exp farm u WILL get level 6 before they do which is a big plus! why is this so good? because if you wait for the right time you can get a EASY double kill WITHOUT your jungler. You will mostly likely get ur health down a bit and if it gets low enough that dual lane will try to dive you and this is where you can go LAWL. because 1. you have a shield so they ahve to get through that first. 2. if your level 6 and u have ur ult even if u ult just one of them and get their soul u can kill the other easily. now you dont have to be under a turret to get a double kill if u have lots of hp and u been harassing them u can just force a fight and they will most likely fight you because they are going to think "oh it's a 2v1 WE GOT DIS BRO!" then u get one of their souls and u get a double kill AGAIN YAY! and of course if your jungler ganks it makes that double kill much MUCH easier.

General Tips.

Try to keep your shield up if possible.
This is is very important: Try to hit ur Q on a champion WITHOUT any minions nearby because u get less dmg if you do. u get much more damage if they are alone.
