// Veigar is a mid-lane champion who focuses on nuking down the AP and AD carries. He is well known for his E->W->R->Q combo.

Items

Spawn

You start with the usual Doran's Ring and 2 Health Potions. No surprises here.

First Buys

Sorcerer's Shoes will be your first full item. The reason why is because you will be farming with your Q most of the time which will result into you passively getting AP (if you do it with your Q, not AA's). What follows is a Tear of the Goddess because eventually you're going to be stuck in those "OOM" moments. This takes care of that NOW, and in the future. Fiendish Codex for the AP and nice Cooldown Reduction. Simple, right?

First Items

Deathfire Grasp is important on Veigar. Cooldown Reduction and 120 AP are magical for him. Plus the passive might help you do that bit more damage to secure a kill. Get Enchantment: Homeguard so you can return to lane faster and defend if necessary. Only upgrade your Tear of the Goddess into a Archangel's Staff when you have maxed your stacks.

Chalice of Harmony is something people will fight me over. Here's what they basicly would say; "But Cora! Your passive gives you 1% mana regen for every 1% mana missing!". Indeed it does. And it's a great passive, no doubt. But we're getting it so we don't have to back at anytime or hunt down anybody with blue buff. Plus, the item it upgrades into is pretty damn nice.

2nd Items

Rabadon's Deathcap almost seems made for Veigar. If you are farming your Q nicely and have around a 100 passive AP, that means you get a bonus of 30 AP. Now imagine that along with the previous bits of AP we picked up. SHAZAM! NUKES! We also get Rylai's Crystal Scepter for the AP and the HP 'cus Veigar is squishy and people will be focusing you now. The slow passive is nice if you couldn't kill them in time before. And we get the Athene's Unholy Grail for the passives, the CDR, the AP, and the MR. Pretty sweet in my opinion!

Ability Explanation

Ability Explanation

  • Equilibrium:
// Veigar's mana regen is increased by 1% for each 1% of mana missing.

Basicly a Chalice of Harmony as a passive. Sweet!

  • Baleful Strike (Q):
// Active: Unleashes dark energy at target enemy dealing 80 / 125 / 170 / 215 / 260 (+60% of ability power) magic damage. If the target is killed, Veigar gains 1 ability power. This bonus is doubled if the target killed is a large minion, large monster, or an enemy champion.

    Passive: Veigar gains 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 ability power when he kills a champion from any source of damage.

Try to use this to last hit at all times! Unless of course you could kill a champion. Max it 1st.

  • Dark Matter (W):
// After 1.2 seconds, dark matter falls from the sky to the target location, dealing 120 / 170 / 220 / 270 / 320 (+100% of ability power) magic damage.

This ability can clear waves quickly, and is the 2nd skill your use in your combo. Max it 4th.

  • Event Horizon (E):
// Active: Veigar twists the edges of space around the target location for 3 seconds, stunning enemies who pass through the perimeter for 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 / 2.25 / 2.5 seconds.

Your stun, initiator, escape. It's so useful. Without this, Veigar wouldn't be viable in my opinion. Atleast, not on his own. Max it 3rd.

  • Primordial Burst (R):
// Blasts an enemy champion, dealing 250 / 375 / 500 (+120% of ability power) magic damage plus 80% of his target's ability power.

Your signature move. Your nuke. This is so amazing. And guess what? Find your nearest AP-based champion and they'll die. Again. Max this A.S.A.P. after your Q. 2nd.

// E->W->R->Q. Now you might be wondering; "Why would you ult first before your Q?". That's because, if your Primordial Burst does not kill the champion along with Dark Matter, your Baleful Strike usually will. And if it does, it will gain AP making it not only a snowball effect but a nice way of maintaining cooldowns if you were to be attacked again.
