Pros:
- Excellent for pushing lanes and harassing enemy champions.
- Good farmer and defender.
- Creeping Death ability can be used to protect himself as well as allies, good for advancing or fleeing.
- Can be a flexible DPS or decent tank if played correctly.

Cons:
- Being very flexible with tanking or DPS'ing doesn't make him good from the start. He's fairly squishy without groups of enemies to feed his shield or allies to cover him.
- Falls prey to ganks easily if not careful.
- He moves kinda slow...
- No crowd control abilities.
- Ultimate Ability can be rendered useless with cleanse or well timed heal.

If you plan to use this build, you have to play very defensively. Survival is the only key to being effective during the game.

Early Game:

Only move in for enemy champion kills if its clearly obvious that you have the upper hand, otherwise just focus on staying alive and pushing the creep waves as far as you can, then fall back to the nearest tower or brush (hopefully no one is waiting for you in there) to avoid any ganks.

Mid Game:

Keep surviving and farming, planning your offensive moves wisely. Coordinate ganks or lane switches with the rest of your team if particular champions are giving you trouble. Also, don't hesitate to pop Children of the Grave on a champ to regain some life back while fleeing.

End Game:

Congratulations, youre pretty much indestructible now. Anything after the Hextech gunblade is up to you depending on how the game is going. While some of you may question executioner's calling, its not a bad weapon to use if you're faced with an annoying opponent who wont seem to die due to health regen, like Warwick or Dr. Mundo.
