Mordekaiser for beginners (Introduction)

RESULTS MAY VARY FOR RANKED MATCHES
I'm still a beginner myself, i look off other peopls guides and i find the best way for me is doing what i did. A quick rundown, Shoes at the beginning to chase if you need to, Crystal Scepter to slow (unlike other peopels build who insist you get defence first) If you play agressive this will work much better, Warmog's Armour is very useful since mordekaiser and kill a group a mobs fast which will let you accumulate a high max hp. At this point for me i can alreay run people down but if your still not quite at that point, buy the force of nature as it will give you more hp regen and movement speed. Abyssal scepter, just for the hell of it, it will help but if your get attacked or you play really agressive, the thornmail would also be a good choice.

Note: This build will work for soloing a lane but it works much better when you have someone ranged to help you if your enemy escapes

Everything Pass level 12 summoner for runes and mastery tree has been taken off another guide and i do not know how effective or ineffective it may be.

Skill description

Ability(Iron Man) :
25 / 27.5 / 30% of the damage dealt from abilities is converted into a temporary shield, absorbing incoming damage. Maximum shield strength is 90 + (30 x level). The shield decays by 3% per second.
The shiled make mordekaiser diffrent. The shield is easy to charge by using syphone into a mob of minions.

1.Siphone of Destruction:
Mordekaiser damages enemies in a cone in front of him, dealing magic damage. For each unit hit, Mordekaiser's shield absorbs additional health.
Cost: 24 / 36 / 48 / 60 / 72 health
Magic Damage: 65 / 105 / 145 / 185 / 225 (+0.6 per ability power)

Additional Shield Health: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 per unit hit

Siphone is a great skill that hits in a "cone" shape in front of you. Raiser this first because it does quite a bit of dmg and at the same time you can use this to help you kill groups of minions.

2.Creeping Death:
Unleashes a protective cloud of metal shards to surround an ally, increasing their armor and magic resistance and dealing magic damage per second to enemies in the cloud for 6 seconds.
Cost: 26 / 32 / 38 / 44 / 50 health
Cooldown: 20 / 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 seconds

Armor & Magic Resist Bonus: 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30

Magic Damage Per Second: 24 / 38 / 52 / 66 / 80 (+0.2 per ability power)

creeping death is also good for killing mobs because it hits an area around a friendly target. To use this effectively for recharging your shield, throw it on a minion that is rushing in and let it charge your shield before you run in and go for an attack.

3. Mace of spades:
On next hit, Mordekaiser swings his mace with such force that it echoes out, striking up to 3 additional nearby targets, dealing magic damage. If the target is alone, the ability deals 75% more damage.
Cost: 25 / 32 / 39 / 46 / 53 health
Cooldown: 8 / 7 / 6 / 5 / 4 seconds

Magic Damage: 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 / 200 (+1.0 per bonus attack damage) (+0.4 per ability power)

Single Target Magic Damage: 140 / 192.5 / 245 / 297.5 / 350 (+1.75 per bonus attack damage) (+0.7 per ability power)

Getting the mace at level 5 is very ideal because this skill will only hit 4 targets total. Around level 5 is when you should start trying to chase for the kills. The most effective way to use this skill is to single out the target there doing a mass amount of damage.

4.Children of the grave:
Mordekaiser deals magic damage to the target and curses it for 10 seconds. The damage is equal to a percentage of the target's maximum health. Mordekaiser heals himself for the damage done. In addition, if the target dies while under the effect of the curse, their soul is enslaved and will follow Mordekaiser for 30 seconds. During this time, Mordekaiser gains 20% of their ability power and attack damage. The spirit gains 75% of Mordekaiser's adjusted damage, ability power, and health totals.
Cooldown: 120 / 105 / 90 seconds
Initial Magic Damage: 12 / 14.5 / 17% (+0.02% per ability power)

Magic Damage Per Second: 1.2 / 1.45 / 1.7% (+0.002% per ability power)d

Does lots of damage and has a long range. The usual situation you would use this skill is to usually to take down a target. Although it does passive damage, it will not do enough to kill due to hp regen and what not. The best way to use this skill is to take your target down as low as possible even as there running and try to use this skill as a finisher.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
-Mordekaiser does not require any mp for casting skills, therefore you as long as you keep your hp up you dont need to recall for mp.
-his Passive ability , if stored up properly you can tank quite a bit of damage

Cons:
-No stuns or slow
-shield gets taken down really fast
-Skills cost hp making
-Almost impossible to replenish your shield when being ambushed or ganked

Items and why they are important

Sorcer's Shoes:
Mordekaiser has no stuns or slows so shoes are very essential to chase down and kill opponents.
Moving fast will help you kill as well as escape.

Crystal Scepter:
Once you obtain this item chasing and killing opponents will be much simpler. Since mordekaiser deals a decent amount of damage fast, the scepter will allow you to stay on your open by slowing them while you are hammering at them.

Warmogs Armour:
Most build don't include this but with mordekaisers mod attacking skills, you can increase your max health points at an alarming rate.
By activating creeping death and using syphone you can easily kill a wave of minions and get hp fast.

Force of nature:
Inceases movement speed, and gerat for health regen. Put together with warmogs armour you will basically become a tank due to high health regen and high hit points.

Abyssal Scepter:
Decreases enemy magic resistance and you get ability power. This is useful especially when you have thornmail, because it will let your thornmail hit more on your opponents.

Thornmail:
Very useful for agressive players because it give you 100 armour and it also reflects 30% dmg back as magic damage.

Farming

Farming is relatively easy to do with mordekaiser. His skills such as creeping death hits over time which allows you to attack monsters while you are attacking. A good combination is to use creeping death then siphon. Farming is VERY important. The more kills with minions you get the fast you can progress in the build. If you progress fast enough you can start on the warmog early and when it comes time to finish the game your character will have so much hit points that it will take at least 3 enemy champions to stun you slow you and whatever else to take you down.

Team Work/play explanation

Mordekaiser can solo or play with a teammate. Soloing will make it more difficult to get kills to start off. If you play with preferably a "ranged" champion, you will have more success in killing enemy champions. Since mordekaiser cant slow what i do is save the ultimate i hammer them with every single skill except the ultimate, if the has a bit too much hp for an instant kill with ultimate let a ranged champion on your team hit it a couple times than take the kill.

The most successful way to play as a mordekaiser has to be WITH A TEAM MATE. As i said before mordekaiser cant stun or slow so there more you must either rely on items, a teammate, or both.

When your stuck because someone ahs stunend you or slowed you, keep running and have your hand on the heal skill, this will be something very useful to do because without the ability to slow or stun you have a better chance of escaping if yoou can heal.

Ghost Pet

You use you ultimate get a ghost pet. It acts as an extra champion to play with as your pet. This ability lets you control a whole other champion at the same time. If Children of the Grave is on your target upon death, you receive their ghost as your new teammate for a certain length of time depending on the skill level. By taking down one of your enemy champions you gain a champion which can turn the odds of any battle. In my opinion you should use this skill as a finisher to ensure it doesn't run out before ou get the chance to kill. An upside is that when you use this skill you will also get points added to your iron man skill.

Using the Ghost

Using the ghost definetly gives you the upperhand in any situation. By holding alt and right clicking your character as well as the ghost will move to the sme position or attack the same target. As ive have mentioned many times, mordekaiser DOES NOT have any stuns or slows. The ghost pet is an easy solution to that problem. Most of the time when your chasing your enemies down they run behind a turret, the one solution if you dont have enough hp is the ghost pet. Since the ghost pet does not use your hp, you can send it in the take out the enemies. The ghost is a "disposable tool" you should use it to the fullest before it disappears.

Notes from Wiki

■ Mace of Spades resets the attack cooldown on cast.
■When cast on other units, Creeping Death's effect is delayed until the projectile reaches the target.
■The ghost from Children of the Grave does not apply your on-hit effects but it does apply the original champion's on-hit effects.
■The ghost deals magic damage on its attacks.
■It is possible for the ghost from Children of the Grave to have Banshee's Veil active.
■ Children of the Grave can be used to steal an enemy Mordekaiser's Children of the Grave pet.
■ Children of the Grave can be used to steal an enemy Shaco's clone and LeBlanc's clone.
■Should the ghost reveal a neutral creep camp, it will not remove the golden marker from the minimap.
■If Mordekaiser kills an enemy champion with Children of the Grave, the ghost will retain the slain enemy champion's passives (for example, Blitzcrank's Mana Barrier will trigger.)
