I. Introduction

Guide to Mordekaiser - The Master of Metal
Now with an optimal manual on pre-game, gearing setups, and 30% more ownage
Last Updated: 06.March.2011

Mordekaiser has had a few changes ever since my first couple of guides, essentially that made me change my mind a few times before I finally decided to archive everything as it was next to impossible to keep it up to date. I did however promise to keep a few guides, Taric being one of them, and now that I've found a new way to play Mordekaiser I can start writing this one in a better fashion.

Pros:
1. Overpowering laner
2. Snowballing powerhouse
3. Guaranteed kill with DoTs

Cons:
1. Crippled by perma-slow
2. Fragile early-game
3. No crowd controll

II. Pre-game Setups

The pre-game is often described as how you prepare for your next game, this of course differs with every champion you pick but we like catogorize them among a few archtypes; Attack Damage, Ability Power, Tank, and Jungler. Looking Mordekaiser he is most suited the AP / Tank, but since he doesn't use mana I figured dodge runes are more effective.

Recommended Summoner Spells:

Ignite: You will find no pledge in either one of the two DoTs I use with Mordekaiser, but if you combine them it can come in handy to quickly down someone on the enemy team. Otherwise you want to use it to scare enemies during the laning-phase and effectively reduce healing effects.

Ghost: Most of the time you'll find it useful to rush your opponents with the infamous Ignite + Children of the Grave combo, or just to GTFO! The worst case scenario is you being perma-slowed and having people getting out of range, use with caution.

Considerable Summoner Spells:

Flash: ...

Exhaust: ...

Teleport: ...

Heal: ...

Fortify: ...

Cleanse: ...

There are a couple of ways to go from here, but most importantly you should take the masteries that improve your summoner spells. In the offense branch I find Archaic Knowledge mandatory, while the rest is more suited to auto-attack champions. This means you should either dump the rest of your points into Defense or Utility.

III. How to Ironman

Iron man
25/27.5/30% of the damage dealt from abilities is converted into a temporary shield. Maximum shield strength is 620 health. The shield decays by 3% per second.

...

Mace of Spades
On next hit, Mordekaiser swings his mace with such force that it echoes out, striking up to 3 additional nearby targets, dealing damage plus bonus damage. If the target is alone, the bonus damage is doubled.

...

Creeping Death
Unleashes a protective cloud of metal shards to surround an ally, increasing their armor and magic resistance and dealing damage per second to enemies in the cloud.

...

Siphon of Destruction
Mordekaiser deals damage to enemies in a cone in front of him. For each unit hit, Mordekaiser's shield absorbs energy.

...

Children of the Grave
Mordekaiser curses an enemy, stealing a percent of their life each second. If the target dies while the spell is active, their soul is enslaved and will follow Mordekaiser for 30 seconds.

V. Laning and Mordekaiser

You either start out bot or top lane, but before that I just want to mention the possibility have an early-golem buff. Now it does have some requirements, but that's not really important, just think of the EXP advantage and the endless mana you or your lanepartner get. You could potententially try to steal the enemy golem if forced in another lane.

VIII. The End of Days

At this stage of the game you will often get 3 or 5 enemies in the same spotlight. That doesn't say warding is just as important, it just gets more situational. Keep in mind that you have to think for yourself when warding the map. The fighting arena always depends on the game, whats important is that you adapt to that.

X. FAQ + Changelog

Frequently Asked Questions:
If you have any questions please ask them, I will answer within a week, I guarantee it.

Q: Who's the one playing in the pictures named Alahric?
A: That is my real account name, I'm playing on EU servers. The Sivir named "Keh Loco" is my little sister, cute isn't it? She's level 9 or something so for the love of god don't add her to your friend list.

Q: What's with the name "MoD[Revisitited]"?
A: ...

Q: Why Ghost instead of Flash?
A: ...

Q: Whats your take on Utility vs. Defense?
A: ...

Q: What do you think about rushing Force of Nature?
A: ....

Q: When should I buy sight ward?
A: All the time, whenever you have a spare 75-150 gold you should purchase wards and place them depending on your current situation as shown in the guide. But this is mere pointless if someone on the enemy team has an Oracle Elixir.

Q: How do I create an image from League of Legends?
A: When you are in the game swap settings on Video to windows mode, and press Alt + Prnt Scrn when you have the image you want. Paste it into a Paint or Photoshop, upload that file at http://imageshack.us/ and use the forum code.

Q: Should I use Mordekaiser in normal game PUGs?
