Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Summoner Skills -
Ignite - This should be used with Children of the grave to get that extra damage. If you kill them then they are yours. and Ignite helps out with the killing part.
Flash - Can help you chase, get into fights, or get out of sticky situations.
Cleanse - Keeps you alive and away from those nasty CCs
Teleport - Helps you regroup faster or defend your towers.
Fortify - This is the spell everyone wants on their team. If you are comfortable with using it then go ahead.
Dont Even Think about it -
(I don't want to put up pictures)
Heal - Your shield is enough.
Clairvoyance - umm... I do see how it is useful, but not for mordekaiser.
Smite - LOL.. yeah, right...
Clarity - He has no magic....
Rally - Great for pushing and standing your ground, but it does not benefit mordkaiser as much as it benefits other champions.
Revive - If you get this spell you plan on dying. Don't plan on dying.
Marks -Greater Mark of Insight - 8.55 Spell Penetration
Helps out with you abilities. more damage = more shield.
Seals -Greater Seal of Evasion - 6.75 Dodge
Keeps you alive and will give you speed.(Will be seen in the masteries)
Glyphs -Greater Glyph of Focus - 5.85 Cooldown Reduction
You will be able to push out your spells faster.
Quintessence -Greater Quintessence of Evasion - 4.5 Dodge
Dodge attacks and gives you speed.
I like the 9-21-0 masteries. It helps out with tanking with added defenses, and gives you a bit of spell penetration that also helps your defense by allowing your abilities to do more damage and charge your shield more.
In the Defense tree you will grab the dodge and the Nimbleness. This will help you out by not taking as much damage and being able to get a bit of a movement boost
Iron Man -This is what makes Mordekaiser a beast tank. Before every encounter you will want this to be full. Since it is based on your ability damage
Mace of Spades -This ability helps you deal amazing damage. It can help you farm and if you are 1v1 an opponent it doubles the base damage.
Creeping Death -This skill can help out in most situations. When attacking you can cover yourself, or whoever is the main tank, and this will help out the push and your shield. When defending it will charge your shield and help you take out minion waves.
Siphon of Destruction -This is your main farming/harassing tool. Since it is a cone area of effect, you can hit a lot of minions with it, and hit any champions that are in range.
Children of the Grave -You should use it against a ranged opponent. A champion that is ranged, and deals a lot of damage. By doing this, everyone can focus that one champion and kill them off quickly. With the ranged champion now on your side, you can use him to take out other champions or have them tank the turret for you.
Start with...These are the first two items you should step out with. Health regen will keep you alive and it will help you spam your Siphon of Destruction since the cost to cast is you health.
Force of Nature - Major Health Regen always good on a tank, and with a good amount of magic resistance. A bit of movement speed always helps.
Boots of Swiftness - Speed get in and out of places quick and morde is kind of a slow champion.
Rylai's Crystal Scepter - A good amount of AP. The AP scaling on Mordekaiser's abilities are just not good, but evey thing helps out. More HP stay alive longer. Have your abilities slow down your opponents. Helps you kill them by slowing their retreat.
Guardian Angel - A bit of magic resist and armor, and when you die you don't :D
Sunfire Cape - You have a good amount of speed. You can slow them with your abilities. it pairs up with Creeping death. you are melee and they will usually be in range of the Capes. just a good item. a lot of positives.
Randuins Omen - Has a lot of good traits to it. but the ones I like is the CDR, the thing with slowing them after getting hit, and the active slowing everyone around you.
Mercury Treads - For those nasty CCs I use this if there are a lot of CCs on the opposing team.
Hexitech Gunblade - Gives you attack damage and AP. The spell vamp helps out a bit, and the ability goes with the Children of the Grave.
Leviathon - A lot of Health, and if you max it out you get reduced damage and that is always good. Only get this if you are doing good or else it is a bit of a waste.
Shurelya's Reverie - Good amount of health, health regeneration, and CDR. The ability can help the team when running away or chasing people down. The Mana regen is sadly useless.
Thornmail - A lot of armor and you bounce damage back at your opponent. I would only use this if they have a heavy physical damage champion.
Abyssal Scepter - I only use this If I see them stacking Magic Resist and only if our team also has a lot of magic users.
Don't get these Items
I have seen these on a lot of people playing Mordekaiser..
The Bloodthirster - A lot of Damage and a lot of lifesteal. In my opinion, I don't like this on Mordekaiser. the Force of Nature gives you enough health regen and the life steal is based on hits, and Mordekaiser doesn't hit fast enough for it to matter
Stark's Fervor - Life steal, Health Regen, Attack speed and lowering the opponents armor. It is a very good item. Helps out in team battles, and can help you attack faster. It is not for Mordekaiser in this type of build. Concentrate on your spells and regenerating your shield so you dont have to take damage.
Warmorg's Armor - Takes too long and you get enough health and health regeneration from the other items that have more purpose.
Madred's Bloodrazor - You aren't auto attacking. This can not help out this build. and you don't attack fast enough to care about the 4% damage.
Let's just jump right into this.
Your first skill should be Siphon of Destruction.
You can grab any lane you want, but for the purposes of this guide I will first go over the side lanes.
You will want to annoy your laning opponents with Siphon, but also try to hit some minions with it too to get your shield up. If you cannot hit the enemy champion or if it is unwise to do so at least try to aim for the biggest group of minions.
Be aware of your situations.
If you are laning with ranged class, you can harrass more by pushing a bit harder and letting your ranged partner keep them away from you.
If you are with a melee class, you can scare them away with damage, but make sure your partner stays alive. With a melee champion, it will be harder to push but if they over extend themselves you can slap their hand away.
If you are with a support class, you can push hard and not be scared of taking a lot of damage. Just make sure they stay alive. Protect them. Also, make sure they will support you.
If you are with a tank class, you can focus more towards damage. Kill all their minions before they can do so to yours.
By Mid game you should be a heavy pusher, and be feared by everyone. In team fights, you should focus down one of their ranged squishies, or the hardest hitter of their team. Make sure Children of the Grave is on them and everyone knows to focus that champion down. With that champion dead you grab their soul and can now use them as a pet. I usually use them to chase down champions or to tank turrets.
By late game you should be able to take the whole team with ease. You can farm off all their minions. You will be leading assaults in group fights with your Children of the grave. You can tank a tower if there are minions around it. Just hit them with your Siphon and let your shield take 3 hits of the tower.
Time your spells to regenerate your shield. As soon as your Shield starts to drop Rapidly or is nearly gone, use another ability to fill it back up.
Work with your team to take out the character that can do the most damage with normal attacks. When you Children of the grave a character and end up killing them, you control them, but you cant make them use their abilities. Choosing a character that has a lot of attack damage would be preferred.
Don't be scared of group encounters. You can take them. you are Mordekaiser.
Special thanks to Rawbbeh. Before making this guide I looked around and I liked his opinions, and it helped me develop my own
