The main idea in this build is that you must stay with the shiels full as much as possible. I choose to take armor first, so that the towers won't do much damage to me. After the armor i take health items, because i need to stay on the field of the fight as much as possible and the magic resistance comes third because until you take it the casters will have taken ability power and you will be able to withstand their abilities. In the middle of yhis build (so far) i take boots whenever i think i need them. Aften the defences are full i choose to take ability power, so that my shield will recharge more quickly and when i'm in a team fight this is importand. as my shield is full i wait my health to regenerate and i also take spel-vamp, so that i regenerate helth in the battlefield too. After the ability power i complete the item by taking the Hextech Gunblade, and by this way i have ability power, attack damage, spel-vamp and fifesteal. This is an effective way to stay in battle as much as possible by regenerating your health and your shield as you fight. In the end for my last item i choose Abyssal Scepter, because i want to improve my survivability and to increase the damage from my abilities.
As for the spells i chose them because they help me in some ways. I'll start with the heal. The heal is perfect for the earl game. Mordekaiser doesn't have healing abilities and his abilities cost some hp of his, aslo hte health regeneration isn't good enough to keep him in a lane when he has low health. The ingnite spell is the most suitable spell for mordekaiser. It empowers his ulti and it increases the chances of gosting an enemy champion.
The order With which i level-up my abilities is the one shown for some reasons. I start with Syphon of Destrucyion, which is a shield-regenerating ability. It does a great deal of damage in AoE and it is helpful when your shield isn't charged. Creepiung Death is an ability that many player ignore. It is very helpful though espacially when you solo lane, because you can cast it on a minion and have your shield charged while you are out of the battle. Also it increases your armor and magic resistance, so it increases your survivability. What i'm trying with the order of the abilities is to have many ways to recharge my shield when i'm laval 6, so that i will be able to tank (from this level on) and that's the reason that i take mace of spades as my 5th level-up ability. Also it does a great deal of damage when you are 1v1 and it is effective when you are trying to farm. The ulti is the ability that i level-up when i have the chance, because it is very useful for a mordekaiser to ghost champions, as he takes a percentage of his battle stats and he has an other champion in his team (for the short period of 30 sec).
As for the runes i take defencive runes, so that i won't die easily in early game(until i take defencive items) and it increases mordekaiser's survivability too.
The masteries i chose are defencive too, because this build is for a tank mordekaiser and i need to take decreased damage, but i take some offencive masteries too, so that i can recharge my sgield easier.
