Introduction

Welcome to my Mordekaiser Guide! I maxed at Platinum ELO and I've mained the Murder King for 2 years now. I believe that his impact on the rift is gamechanging with his pet dragon and his ability to turn a 5v5 into a 4v6 mid-teamfight with his R. Morde is more than just his ult though, he offers a you the opportunity to do MASSIVE damage while still building tanky, being able to sustain yourself, and having a decent time in most lanes when played correctly. Give him a try, you'll be surprised!

Runes

Hybrid penetration is excellent on Morde, as it has good synergy with Black Cleaver for some hard physical damage on your autoattacks as well as giving you the magic pen you need to hit harder with your magic. As for Armor and MR, I simply go for the tanky item that will offer more of it early on, be it Spirit Visage, Abyssal Scepter, Zhonya, or Ninja Tabi.

Masteries

Stormraider's Surge was MADE for Mordekaiser. It is what makes him somewhat viable later on. Proccing it is extremely easy with your spell combo and auto attack, after that you're set. When you add the Phage proc and Rylai's, your sticking power resembles that of Mundo with his cleaver. Some people prefer 0/18/12 but I feel that this set of Masteries works better for me, as I need all the damage I can get since I build somewhat tanky.

Items

Because Morde's base damages are good and he doesn't need mana, he can be played with completely different builds. You can go Tank, AP, AD or mixed. This enables you to pretty much change your Morde depending on your team comp and who you're facing right there on the spot. This is excellent.

My basic build for Morde involves one armor item, one or two MR items ( Spirit Visage always mandatory), and the rest are AP items and either Black Cleaver or Trinity Force, as they offer tons of damage and some tankiness while helping you stick to your opponents.

Because Morde has no CC, Rylai's is mandatory, but whether it is your first or second item is entirely up to you. I would not recommend relegating it to the 3rd item position, as by then you'll be dealing with strong opponents who can hurt you and kite you before you get to them.

Rylai and Liandry's work well together, and are used by the best Mordekaisers in the world. I personally don't use it, because it doesn't translate so well to my lower level of play, which is favored by more burst damage.

Skill Sequence

Your Q does tremendous damage with few points, but W's heal and damage scales very well with level. This allows you to heal yourself in lane and to win 1v1 and 1v2, as the damage piles up fast and the heal is very good. With Spirit Visage, it's downright unfair. Max Ult whenever possible!

E simply isn't good enough to level before the others, and is primarily use as harass, to proc your Rylai/Trinity or to build your shield. Use it with that in mind, always when your shield is about to end or if the enemy is leaving your reach... then catch him and crush his skull in!
