Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Why this build?
I have become fairly good with Morgana recently and this build is why. It focuses on maximizing damage and survivability in runes mixed with cool down reduction and damage items. To me it is essential to lower cool downs for Morgana as much as possible to use her dark bind to its fullest.
-magic penetration mark of insight
-ability power glyph of force
-seal of evasion/ any defensive rune depending on your enemy team (magic resist/ armor, don't bother with flat health)
-defensive quints (dodge?)
Here I stack ability power and magic penetration to up Morgana's damage. I rely on items for cool downs as it only goes up to a certain point, and items and clarity for mana which appears to work fine. Personally for seals and quints I stack dodge because it is always applicable from lvl 1 to 18 unaffected by anything. However this is a choice, I just feel magic resist and armor become redundant late game unless added to with items which I don't.
I focus on ghost and clarity summoner spells to help with mana and escaping. To help with this are their corresponding masteries. I personally enjoy the gold and mana masteries however if you like to rely on blue buff you can select "utility master". Also to note is Morgana is one of the slowest champions I have seen. For this reason I get "quickness". Lastly I focus on ability power and crit chance, ending up with 6-0-24 which I know appears unorthodox but works with the build.
For items I go doran's ring to give a good mana and damage start as you harass with w and q. I grab one item from "evil tome" to boost my battle effectiveness before getting standard "boots". Then I go straight for "evil tome" followed by "kage's lucky pick" for gold, helping get out deathfire grasp earlier. These items help with mana (regen), cool down reduction and ability power early game. Then comes "archangels staff" which aids with health, mana and good end game ability power supported with "death cap". My last item will always be a defensive item to help me sustain life in battle, I usually vary between "banshee's veil", "guardian angel" and "thornmail" depending on my situation. By now I am able to sustain mana, fire off my abilities as quick as possible and maintain decent damage becoming mainly support that can sustain stuns and damage and being attacked.
always try to follow q,w,r,e combos and keep up pressure with w constantly. Use your q wisely as it provides massive damage and often gets many supportive kills. If you are doing well don't be afraid to switch something for majai's as Morgana is always an amazing assist and can avoid death easily. Keep in mind that black shield only stops spells so use it against both heavy damage and disorient effects (stuns, etc even Nunu's ice ball, very useful). Finally keep in mind that no matter what, Morgana is squishy and must take a distanced role in team fights - q, then w and if the enemy is distracted definitely tun in and use r(ultimate). You can output damage heavily but you must always be careful of your surroundings and keep away from fights that make you seem vulnerable.
Finally a good match-up with Morgana is any character that can stun or disorient. A good ole stun lock combo is all you need to completely zone out the enemy team and get a good set of kills. Focus on your team mate stunning first so you make sure your stun hits, producing maximum damage.
