Basically, this build revolves around laning as long as you can. Most of the time, you're going to want to solo in the middle lane, but you can very well lane with a partner as well (make sure to pick the snare first in this case). With the mana regeneration runes and your passive spell vamp, you're going to stay there a long time. Most of the time, you'll be able to afford your shoes and blasting wand right away on your first trip to town, maybe even a rod of age (if you did not die / got denied of course).

Having the mana regen runes and a doran's ring, you won't need the blue buff or any mana items like Archangel or chalice for that matter. Which means you can directly save up your gold for ability power items, making you hurt that much more. With your magic penetration marks, you're going to be able to kill all the mages (creep wave mages) with your level 3 tormented soil, increasing your ability to farm that much easier.

Now I'm sure alot of you ask why flash over ignite? For the late game. Flash has an insane synergy with your ult and zhonya's ring. I mean you can literally initiate as a mage O_o

1- flash in an enemy team
2- use your ultimate
3- activate your zhonya's ring
4- everybody gets stunned
5- ???
6- win

Of course it doesn't always happen like that. But flash is, overall, an incredible spell which can be used offensively to get a last hit or defensively to run away, just like Ghost. Ignite is a solid spell as well but it can only be used offensively and is only efficient in the early game (for the most part).
