I find myself using Morgana probably 98% of the time, and I love her. She can, with the right team, cause most of the deaths in the game. I've played mid a lot in the beginning and can go 3 kills with no deaths, or just cause a stalemate. This is the build that I use and have found the best success with, but I have gone through many different kinds of items. Don't be afraid to switch the order after the first two items to be accustomed to your game. DO NOT change the first two though, it will give you the speed and cooldown you need in the beginning, and also the mana that will be required to keep a lane to yourself or help out an ally.

Given that you are middle, then you would stack up the Tormented Soil more, but if you are supporting in the beginning then it'd be best to stack up the stun. I don't start with the Black Shield towards the start because if you are in mid alone you will need to be able to stun and farm. If you are supporting it is the same story, the shield comes in handy later when you have a lot more ability power and it can actually help.
