Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
This is my way to play Amumu and I just wanted to share it, because I felt that it is time to let people know that a full out tank is just plain boring!
You may argue with my build that he won't be able to tank anything but trust me, if you know how to play Amumu this will give you bot kills and assists and not that many deaths.
Sorry for not adding pictures, I honestly don't know how to do it.
As runes I take:
Marks: Magic Penetration
Seals: Seal of Clarity. mana /5 /level is what benefits me most I believe.
Glyphs: I take magic resist/level
Quints: flat out health quints
Well, my masteries explains themselves in my opinion. the 4% reduced damage is not worth it when it comes to the end. By buffing your AP your damage output will help you to survive, you will not even need those last 4%.
I start off by buying a Regrowth pendant and a health potion. This gives a lot of survivability as long as you don't do anything stupid ;).
First time going back upgrade your pendant to a philosophers stone. this will give mana regen, health regen and GOLD! try to also have gold enough for boots.
On the next trip back get merc treds. They ARE the BEST boots in the game! MR + CC reduction = win! if you've got the gold start making your sunfire cape. If I lane against mages I tend to buy the belt first for the HP and against melee I get chain vest.
Then the midgame should begin and you'll be getting a lot of kills by despair + sunfire cape+ ulti in and spamming tantrum.
When you can get abyssal scepter. start off by buying the negatron cape.
Get guardian angel after that. and so on.... rylais is just awesome because of the health + the slow through despair.
can't remember how it should be leveled up.
Start off by picking tantrum, then despair. and tantrum again. At level 4 I get bandage toss.
After that don't touch bandage toss. just take tantrum over despair at any time and get your ulti when ever you can!
I take teleport + flash.
Teleport because of the map control you will get. and flash so you can flash in and do your ulti or flash out after a teamfight when you have bandage toss'ed yourself right in there.
To end all of this, I will just say that you should try out this build!
with this build you'll be getting about 200 armor and MR and about 250 AP.
Most of the time the armor and MR is enough to keep you alive in team fights and you'll do EVIL damage because of his skills scaling 100% with bandage toss 50% with tantrum and 100% with ulti.
You can of course go full out with armor and MR but I don't think it's quite as fun as this build where off you'll be killin' and chillin'.
