I've seen a few different builds for akali. I've borrowed some idea's and ended up adding a bit of my own to make my personal favorite build for akali.

This is pretty much a pure AP build with the exception of guinsoo's rageblade for unlocking her Twin D's.

AP runes...ALL of them.

Boots are important for akali because she can already hit so high at the beginning. She very good to solo with imo so I use extra boot speed at the beginning to get in and out quickly. Some people go with ninja tabi but I prefer swiftness simply because it adds that extra speed. Even though you don't get the protection you do from tabi you shouldn't be taking enemy damage for long. As you know akali is a squishy but very powerful nuker. The idea is to deal and overwhelming amount of damage and take as little as possible.

Anyhow, after Boots of swiftness I go with guinsoo's rageblade to unlock both of her twin desciple abilities. I start with pickaxe to get that extra spellvamp. Spellvamp = more time spent farming, not to mention pickaxe gives you a nice attack boost. Once you have the rage blade rush rylai's ASAP. With both of those AP items you're already a dangerous nuker and in my case usually the most powerful player. (as long as your team hasn't fed)

Zhonya's for a MASSIVE AP boost and for the stasis ability when you get trapped in a tight situation, then voidstaff for extra AP and spell penetration.

Now most games are usually done for me at this point so my last item may vary. I've taken hextech for the extra damage/slowdown (not to mention AP boost) but it may not be necessary since you already have rylai's. Go with your gut feeling and decide on the last item based on how the enemy team is built.

My play style with akali is fairly straight up. try not to engage without your shroud and if you see (for some strange reason) you arn't doing enough damage in the first few seconds, RUN. Use your shroud for cover and move in an unpredictable way. Remember mark of the assasin's your most powerful ability and should be used everytime it's cooled down. Alot of people don't realize the extra attack damage that your second hit does after you've cast it. yeah...you'd be suprised. Use common since for the most part...let a friend engage first and follow up. Play smart and I hope people benefit from this build. It's my first btw so please don't be TOO hard on me. enjoy :)
