the early game is harassment. hit the minions (and if possible one or both) the enemy toons with your AOE. the goal isn't soo much as to kill them but to weaken them for your lane buddy to help jump in and finish them off.

this is mana intensive so you want to make your shots count, the ring gives you bonus mana regen to help sustain your bombardments and the extra ap translates into damage...the bonus hp are the gravy you need to survive.

once you get syphoning strike farm that ****. try to last hit minions around there 20% life point...if you have the sheen item this is a certain kill and 3 bonus damage. late game you will want your ss to be hitting at equal to or greater than you AD.

the goal of the boots is to increase your longevity...once you have increased move armor and dodge you will be able to go toe to toe in a fight with minions all around and vs melee it's a great defense.... that 1/5 miss chance is a reall life saver.

the spell vamp is a goody too.... once you have this your hp regen vs minions after a fight improves. you can now sustain combat for longer. keeping the offensive ride going you put the enemy team at a disadvantage.

generally i find that once i get up to the hextech that my opponents are my opponents are boned. the additional lifedrain allong with spell vamp make you a god in Close combat. When you blow your ult you will see your guy regening from his aoes and dealing rather impressive damage too.

after the accomplishment of the OFFensive purchases i usually go with some Defense.... a banshees veil or Warmogs really push your guy over the top.. by thhis stage you can just chuck that ring and start buying the good stuff.
