For the extra magic penetration and damage early game.
For the extra armor boost so you get to 100 armor(50% damage reduction) faster.
For the extra Magic resistance boost so you get to 100 magic resistance(50% damage reduction) faster.
For the extra bit of early game tankiness to help you get first blood, or intimidate the other champion into not attacking you! Jokes :)
You can also switch these out for a Greater Quintessence of Ability Power for more early game damage output, but I think it's really not very noticeable till you get some AP items.
Try to alternate putting skill points into Titan's Wrath and Riptide to maximize damage output against champions and minions.
Leave one point in Dredge Line at level 1 to initiate or escape and max it after you've finished maxing out your Titan's Wrath and Riptide.
Get this , along with a potion of your choice as this as maximizes your lane sustainability.
It builds into a Philsopher's Stone which gives your Health and Mana regeneration, along with 5 gold per 10 seconds.
CORE BUILD
This gives a nice balance of health and mana and a whopping 80 ability power! Along with Aegis it makes you quite tanky! WITH A TIDE BLASTER ON TOP!
This is something that many people underestimate. It's one of the cheapest items that give Armor and Magic resistance at the same time (along with 270 health!) with a Aura! Combo this with your Mercury Treads and you'll have approx. 100 armor and 100 magic resistance!
These shoes make you a semi-juggernaut! The 35 tenacity it gives lowers the time you are crowd-controlled, putting you into the fight faster! The Magic resistance is a nice add too!
I get Ghost because this lasts much more longer than Flash, and with this you can travel much longer distances, and chase harder. It also has it's cons, of course, as it cannot make you jump over walls, and if you are CC'd when it's a 1v5 you are most certainly dead. Flash has it's Pros, and yeah.
Ignite or Exhaust?
In Ranked games you can find out! (Ignite counters guys with high regeneration and can finish off them(Dr. Mundo, Swain, etc.) Exhaust decimates AD carries (Caitlyn, Master Yi, etc.) Exhaust is more useful in my opinion as it can be used offensively and defensively, when someone ganks you.
