Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Hi guys! My name is RenKai32 and this is my first serious guide on mobafire. If you see any and all mistakes please comment. I also appreciate feedback. I have played Nautilus from level 12 all the way to level 30! Nautilus is a fantastic support champion because he is tanky, he has a grab, and he can swim in the air! At first, Nautilus might be difficult to get used to, but after a while he is arguably one of the best support/tank champions out there! I put a fair amount of effort into this guide so please don't down vote it just because of one mistake. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
Characteristics of a Support/Tank
Even though Nautilus doesn't have a heal, he has a lot of early power and health needed to win lane in The Fields of Justice. These are the characteristics of supports.
1. Avoid getting cs! Your carry needs it! You will have items and runes to get gold!
2. You are in lane to assist in kills not kill!
3. Warding is a must! Make sure to have some gold to cover the ganking spots!
4. In late game, make sure to be with your team to initiate and assist!
5. Understand everyone's job!
6. Rush your gold producing items!
7. Get items with auras that give armor and help fight the enemy team's carry!
8. Know how and when your abilities to make yourself the most useful you can be!
1/1 Veteran's Scar 2/3
Nautilus uses the mastery shorthand build of 0-21-9. This provides the defensive masteries needed to last through team fights and the utility masteries to help your team in a very significant way.
There are certain areas of the defensive mastery tree that help Nautilus in ways that have a much more troublesome way in game when considering the livelihood of your foes. The mastery tree for defense should focus on getting to certain points on the tree. These are as follows:
: Provides health per level which fuels one of your important abilities which will be discussed in the section titled Nautilus' Skill Sequence.
Veteran's Scar : Grants an additional 30 health at the start of a game. This is vital because obtaining all the health you can is key. Once again, this will be further discussed in the chapter labelled Nautilus' Skill Sequence.
: Nautilus' abilities have great power, but a really lengthy cool down. Sadly this deters summoners from playing as the titan of the depths. Getting this point is key.
: The nature of Nautilus' abilities is crowd control and a very in your face concept of play style. Being able to last through the enemies crowd control as well as other extraneous abilities can save your life and win team fights for quite a while.
The main focus of this tree is the movement speed increase as well as an increase in ward sight. This will aid in overall team awareness and help prevent ganks from the enemy team.
: The movement speed will help you move about faster which will make people more cautious because, let's face it, you are playing one scary champion.
: This increases the range of the area your wards affect. It is only a small percentage, but gives you an advantage nonetheless.
