If you are wanting to get really close up the whole fight then a hybrid build is not for you, this will be better for chasing and kiting your opponent, it works excellent as soloing since you will start getting a lead early if you play around the bushes and make them go back lots from your spears. Your spears will end up getting to level 5 and even without AP still do enough damage in the beginning which is why i choose to go AD over AP for my first item after boots. Only one of Nidalee's moves scales with AD which she doesn't get until 6 and you can usually get enough gold to get the AD item right after you get to 6.

At all times you have to keep Clarvoyance on the target when you see them disappear in a bush, use that so you can target your spear as far as it can to hit them leaving a little room if they catch on later, When you get cat form you will not want to stay in just cat form or human form during fights you should always start it off with a spear to a pounce in, use Q then E, (Note: Try to fight around bushes) Run into a bush or else pounce back once if he doesn't follow and twice/three times if he does follow, as soon as you are a far distance maybe half your spear then throw it at the target, heal up use a trap under your feet, go into Cat and save pounce for an escape. By this point you should be able to kill him or else he is going to run. If he starts running and you catch up to him with cat then throw a spear from on his back and it will just increase damage as he runs. It only takes a few spears to bring your enemy to their knees.

before you get level 5 i would suggest using almost no abilities, maybe 1 spear a level. They just drain your mana, maybe heal up if you need or use the AS boost. I usually save Ghost run for get aways however i will use it if i want someone dead badly. Clairvoyance has a very short cooldown compared to the rest, it stays on cooldown without being active for i believe 40 seconds. If people are missing for a while maybe just use it around bushes they would hide in then spear them and pounce into them quickly. Clairvoyance is almost necessary to have a good Nidalee! In the spec i have Exhaust's ability up because sometimes i enjoy being able to just drop their resistances with Trap and Exhaust for a spear or 2. Usually Ghost run is used more by me, its more for opinion.
