Skills

For a while when I played Nidalee, I used to max Javelin Toss first for the pokes, but I became oom way too quickly. It's a bad idea to really start poking with them until it's level 2 because the damage they do is not enough for the amount of mana they cost at level. Make sure you have this on smartcast as just q so you can fire them off quicker when you need to.

Bushwack is a very useful skill because, when used effectively, they can prevent you from getting ganked whether you're in mid or laning. Use these often.

Her heal is the best part about her because it lets you stay in lane indefinitely. One tip that I have is to map the self-cast for this to 'spacebar' so you can heal yourself quickly in a teamfight without wasting time. This lets your combo go on farther than just your standard punce>swipe>takedown (assuming that doesn't kill them) and you can then morph into human press spacebar and quickly get off a javelin/autoattack all at the same time.

Takedown and early kills at level 6

Remember that the way takedown works is that the lower hp they are, the more damage it does. So poke an enemy until they are low enough (half-health), and assuming that they don't recall, pounce, swipe, takedown and they are dead.

I've found that pouncing as a poke, especially if they are at full health, is not such a good idea unless an ally has a stun because you're unable to get away quickly. If you want to poke, stick to spear/autoattacks.
