Introduction

Nidalee is arguably the most versatile champion in the game. With access to so many skills, she can be a great asset to a team. what she can actually do for a team is: high heals, high burst in cat form and alot of harass in the form of her Javelin Toss. With all this to bring to the table, and all of it based on AP, why would anyone build an AD/Hybrid Nidalee.

Pros/cons

Pros:

-Heal for not only herself but teammates.
-Quick burst.
-Great chasing ability.
-Many skills to utilise/versatile.
-Quickly move around the map thanks to her innate passive Prowl.
-Free map awareness with traps.
-out of her 7 moves, 4 of them are AP and only one is AD (i consider this a pro).
-Great at Solo Laning 2v1 or 1v1.
-Cougar spells don't cost Mana.
-Transforms into a badass cougar.
-She's Nidalee.

Cons:

-Hard to master
-Harass is a skillshot
-Heal is very mana intensive
-Not enough cooldown to be able to keep bursting or run away very well

Runes

The reason i chose Greater Mark of Potency size, and Greater Glyph of Ability Power for Nidalee is to make up for the Meki Pendant that is replacing Doran's Ring. The runes also help Nidalee's early game harass with Javelin Toss and makes her Primal Surge heal for quite a bit more, so she can stay in her lane longer.

Finally, i chose the HP runes to give Nidalee a little bit of survivability while out there in a solo lane just in case of a gank or from any annoying heroes that may try to harass you, whether AD or AP.

Masteries

Nidalee is extremely effective at killing things 1v1 or even 2v1. Thats why i like the masteries to be 21/0/9. with the extra damage and level advantage Nidalee can be quite effective at getting kills as soon as she hits level 6 if she has been harassing her enemy and last hitting properly. On a side note, the other reason i went for utility instead of defense is because after Nidalee's healing nerf she needs blue buff as long as possible to be able to spam heals, traps and spears.

Items

The item set to me is pretty obvious. Nidalee has 4 skills that are AP, so stack AP. Thus she should buy a Meki Pendant and either 2x Health Potion or 1x Health Potion 1x Mana Potion depending on your playstyle. If you feel Nidalee needs an extra AP boost and you don't mind giving up the health pots/mana pots, buy a Doran's Ring, however this will set your build back a little bit.

Now as nidalee, you want to solo a lane, and stay out for as long as possible without dying. The last hits are Extremely important to get, as Nidalee may and up giving the kills to stronger carries in the mid/late game, so try to get your goal to be to afford boots and a Fiendish Codex. If your team is going well, buy a Mejai's Soulstealer instead of a Fiendish Codex, as once you get 20 stacks its a much better alternative. Mejai's Soulstealer is a risky alternative though, and it may be safer to build up towards your Morello's Evil Tome.

after your Fiendish Codex/ Mejai's Soulstealer, Nidalee needs either a Rod of Ages for survivability and then finish Morello's Evil Tome or she can choose to finish off the Morello's Evil Tome and start building a Rabadon's Deathcap for the boost in AP. Again this is up to personal preference, whether you'd prefer Nidalee to Nuke champions, or to be a more supportive role and Primal Surge teammates, while harassing and weakening enemies with her skillset. In most situations a Rod of Ages is generally nice to have, as early/mid game it has time to build up and become a real asset late game for Nidalee.

After that its all up to what your enemies are building really. if Nidalees team is AP heavy, get Abyssal Mask however if Nidalees team is more AD get a Void Staff instead.
Zhonya's Hourglass is obviously for defense and a really nice boost in AP, however if you feel Nidalee already has enough AP, and needs some more survivability a Banshee's Veil could do really nicely, or a Rylai's Crystal Scepter could be a viable option for Nidalees spear and chasing abilites with Pounce. Quicksilver Sash is another optional item if you feel Nidalee is getting CC'd far too much. nice active with cleanse-like properties that can save nidalee, as she is mobile enough to escape.

This itemset is trying to bring out Nidalees full potential with high Cooldown reduction, allowing her to pounce around the map really quickly, and spam her skills as often as possible on enemy champions for quick burst in the early/midgame and then turn into a support for endgame for the true carries with fast heals.

Skill Sequence

Primal Surge. No more need be said. However i might as well go on since i'm making a guide anyway. Not only does this skill heal champions within nidalees range, it has a decent cooldown, and also gives an attack speed buff. What this means is that in a team fight, if there is a Hard carry AD on your team, and he/she is in the fray of battle, pop primal surge on them (even if they may be full health, depending on how the team battle is going and who is being focused) and BAM, that champion is suddenly incredibly untouchable. For instance, a Vayne who is in the back doing DPS and isn't being damaged too bad, can now wipe out a whole team in an incredibly short amount of time procing a huge amount of damage with Silver Bolts. thats just one situation, muck around with Primal Surge, it's an incredible spell.

Second priority is to get Javelin Toss, for easy harass. Don't forget that with Javelin Toss the further your enemy is from you at point of impact, the more damage it does. If you know an enemy is in the bush, throw a javelin in there. As long as you don't waste too much mana trying to harass then you can net easy kills.

at level 4 you want to get one point in Bushwhack. this is for two reasons:
1. Since you should be soloing, its a free ward to put on one of the entrances towards you (for instance in top lane if you are Blue team a trap in the river bushes can save you from being ganked)
2: as soon as you hit level 6, you have cougar form, and pounce is available thanks to that one point in bushwhack.

the rest is self explanatory,
- Aspect Of The Cougar comes first as it strenghtens Nidalees cougar abilities and gives her def/ mres in cougar form.

-The next priorty is on Primal Surge for heals/atk speed buff and for Swipes AOE dmg allowing for quick minion kills

- Javelin Toss comes 3rd as its the escaping/harassing skill, and Takedown isnt too bad for hitting enemies at low HP (it does more damage as enemes have less health, so try doing it as the final spell in your chain for maximum damage). Takedown IS AD not AP though, so as the game progresses it will become weaker comparatively versus enemy champions.

- Bushwhack Comes last, as although higher levels of Pounce are nice to have, the spear does more damage than pounce, so spear is better to have earlier.

Summoner Spells

Good Summoner Spells for Nidalee:
Flash - most versatile spell in the game, nidalee becomes an escape artist with Pounce and Flash, plus Prowl allows her to escape nearly any situation.
Ghost - similar to Flash, good for chasing and escaping
Ignite - free AP from masteries (recommended if you run ignite)
Exhaust - Since Nidalee is good at chasing, Exhaust can play a big part by reducing the enemy champions Mres and also prevents escape from Nidalee and teammates.
Clairvoyance - Free Vision. who doesn't like that?

Bad Summoner Spells for Nidalee:
Smite - Seriously? jungle nidalee?
Heal - you have a spell for that. you don't need another one.
Revive - You have points in Good Hands for a reason. on a side note you shouldn't be dying much as Nidalee anyway.
Fortify - Unless you are doing some tricky stuff with Exhaust/Fortify for kills, you shouldnt take fortify as Nidalee.

Summary

In summary, AP Nidalee is an extremely versatile champion, who with the help of AP, can change the tide of a battle all on her own by keeping champions alive, dealing AOE damage to champions, chase down champions that may have escaped, or even escape herself by jumping down a cliff and then assisting a teamfght by still throwing spears into the confusion.

Nidalee brings to the table anything anyone could ask for, and with AP she becomes a force to be reckoned with.

Please Comment and try out the build. just remember that she becomes support near end game and that you may not get any kills at the endgame, however you will get many assists.
