Introduction

Konnichiwa!

I'm Nightdatsu and I play on EU N&E from playing on NA, I'm very intrigued of doing theory-crafting and thought I could give this a go (I do wanna note that this Build is not done yet and I gladly take hints and pointers!) Also this is a build trying to be completely different :).

Support have always been a lane I appreciate the most, it is so much fun being so helpful to your team in any game even if it's not even ranked! It's a great way to meet new people and get friends online in LoL.

If there is anything you don't agree with then why not just post a comment, I don't mind and it's a good way for people to improve themselves, even me. I love critique, it's an excellent tool to progress in life and gaming!

Braum is really new as when this guide was posted but had a couple of hours to goof around with him, I made up something different that might suit your play style a little bit more then the average Braum! (I'm sorry for the typo's I'm working on it, English is my third language.)

Pros / Cons

+ Pros

He has really good CC.

He has high mobility.

His Shield is probably one of the best in the game.

Durable, Tanky.

Excels at avoiding damage/AoE damage and Skillshots.

More Q's with this Build on lane.

You won't have to purchase Mana potions or go Oom with this Build.

You gain more Gold in a game compared to Relic.

- Cons

Heavy reliant on team mates.

If you miss an ultimate you can loose a team fight.

Disengage over and through terrain takes practice.

Not enough Moustachioed..

It's easy to die early game if you fail a Q.

You loose 500 Health on this Build.

Masteries

First of all is the coverage of the sustain in lane.
Block , Enchanted Armor , Unyielding , Veteran Scars and Juggernaut is the obvious picks as they help with trades.

Now we have Oppression to keep yourself in the lane as long as possible and hopefully in their faces long enough, hence why we combine this with Expose Weakness to help our Jungler or ADC to deal more damage in less time, while you take less damage over a longer period of time.

Fury Get's easily overlooked in Braums arsenal as more hits you do, the less they do combine this with Oppression you can have some good CC or with Unbreakable You have it easier to defend your ADC.

We put only 2 points into Legendary Guardian to have more protection end game with Reinforced Armor , Evasive , Perseverance and Enchanted Armor .

Runes

With armor and health you get a good ground to stand on when you are support.
We use Flat armor to have a little bit more edge in both early and late game and health to improve the value of it.

Glyphs:

Both for Early and Late, i recommend you use Magic Resist as most damage you take early (in your lane) are auto attacks (AD) but still a viable choice to keep the pressure on Annie, Zyra or Braum's highest counter at the moment, Morgana.
This will also keep you safe from Jungler's that initiate with AP spells like Elise or Amumu.

Seals:

We have 9x Greater Seal of Health Too keep Braum in end game as long as possible and also as you are going to engage more then most supportive champions out there we will need it, This is great against champions like Jinx or your counter Morgana.

Quintessence:

We have 2x Greater Quintessence of Armor To keep Braum's stache at it's best.
We finish this off by having 1x Greater Quintessence of Scaling Health to provide that extra for end game, as Braum is really bulky anyway this provides more end game then early, witch he makes up for it anyway.

Skill Sequence

Who hasn't went with R -> E -> W -> Q? Yes it actually works pretty well, I have yet to seen anyone that doesn't follow this formula so I do recommend it.

- Braum's adds stacks of Concussive Blows to enemies with basic attacks or Winter's Bite, He and his allies continue to add stacks with basic attacks, at four stacks the enemy will be stunned for 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 seconds and takes 60 + (10 x level) magic damage. After being stunned, an enemy cannot be affected by Concussive Blows again for 8 seconds, during which time they instead take 12 + (2 x level) bonus magic damage from Braum's attacks and Winter's Bite.
Footnote:
(This is probably Braum's trademark ability so far, people against you will cry for NERF and people with you will ask for MOAR! It works really good togheter with champions like Ashe, Jinx and Ezreal.)

- Braum propels freezing ice from his shield, slowing and dealing magic damage.
The ability power scales with your % HP, witch I think is 2,5%.
Maxing this ability lowers cooldown and increase the base damage but thats why I think You should try and not max it with this build, you need Unbreakable in far more situations then this one.
footnote:
!Skillshot is important don't get me wrong! This is probably what other people suggest you Max out first, I know the base damage is decent but as it doesn't increase the % damage based on health, none of your Runes or masteries will effect how this one play out throughout the game.

W > Stand Behind Me

- Braum leaps to a target allied champion or minion. On arrival, Braum and the ally gain Magic Resist and Armor for a few seconds.
This works in very good conjunction with Unbreakable.
Footnote::
This is the ability you max out secondly, The more times you can use this the better, it increases your damage and cc ability immensely, we have Fury to turn this ability both into an defensive and offensive ability, remember You can be very creative with this one, I usually use minions to position myself at enemy champions, This is also a great use for team fights, The best one in your arsenal.

- Braum raises a shield in a direction for several seconds, intercepting all projectiles causing them to hit him and be destroyed, He negates the damage of the first attack completely and reduces the damage of all the subsequent attacks from this direction.
Maxing Unbreakable lowers its CD and increases the duration (3 / 3.25 / 3.5 / 3.75 / 4 seconds) and damage reduction (30 / 32.5 / 35 / 37.5 / 40%).
Footnote:
This is the first ability we max out in this build, The more times you can do Unbreakable the better, we also combine this with Oppression to keep yourself as healthy as possible in team fights and against other supports like Morgana or Karma. Do note that some spells is not effected by the shield hence why Evasive is good. The most notable thing about maxing this out is that we rely on mobility, that movespeed increase is now apart of your harass.

- Braum slams his shield into the ground, dealing magic damage (150 / 250 / 350 (+ 60% AP)) to all enemies in a line as well as those in a small area around him. The first champion hit and all champion close to Braum are knocked up for 1.5 seconds, subsequent enemy champions are knocked up briefly.
Footnote:
Why is this called Glacial Fissure? Nice way to screw over with future skins Riot. Why not just Fissure? The Volcano skin would be Volcanic Eruption? Getting off track here.. . This ability is Braum's ability for team fights basically, it reminds me a little of The Box in how it tries to control the battlefield, yet is by far not as effective, it seems that the worse you are at gap closing the more **** this ability gets. Stay close to maximize it's potentials. Expose Weakness and Oppression works well with this one.

Farming

I think I had to make an extra note about Farming as most people would probably go, Why in the world not Relic Shield?

Alas I found it to be quite favorably to use Talisman of Ascension, it keeps you healthier then you think as being without Mana is as far as I've been through, an constant death scenario for you and your team. This is a great way to prevent that.
It's cooldown reduction eases on you when you are trying to protect your ADC, it makes room for error in situations where Relic Shield would not.

I use Talisman of Ascension's Active to boost the movement speed of my team mates or just myself, and follow up with either Stand Behind Me, Unbreakable or Glacial Fissure. You cover more ground during cooldowns aswell for instance in a scenario where you are out of abilities and you need to chase or catch up, the Movespeed increase of 40% does wonders.

I think the chase synergy with Passive Concussive Blows takes the cake, I got plenty of situations where only I could start the engage, thus preventing their Jungle to escape with adding slow and knock up before I Stand Behind Me anyone that can assist in the Kill.

Here is my average per game type chart, I asked a friend to go Braum aswell but the more common build. It works pretty decent right? :) I'm the Braum On top with 36 Assists.

I think I should explain Fury aswell, as far as testing goes, Apply a stack goes faster and a lot faster aswell, When I got a stun down, the other Braum was on 2-3 stacks, so on average I apply one more stack on average. This is great for team fights as There is a timer on Concussive Blows meaning it wont stun the same opponent twice that rapidly but adding stacks to other enemy champions is now faster, more fluid and easier then without Flurry The CDR we have on this builds helps a lot on disengage and engage aswell. There was Never during any of my attempts where I had cd on Stand Behind Me or was without mana.

I prefer this option, If you like it. Why don't you let me know :) Thanks!

Lane Protection and Mindset. An Example.

Lane and Mindset for Braum

Never Ever Never forgett that Unbreakable Increases movespeed.

Here is an example on me and Draven being up against Karma and Twitch on Bot.
We have already secured 2 Kills on the lane and we are having enemy jungle coming in every two minuet or so.
I'm Braum (Red Circle] and I stand up north during this next upcoming kill, Xin is incoming from middle to try and gank us. The Blue lines is the potential Winter's Bite engage but I'm making sure that if I'm going to go with early dive or second, As I noticed that Xin is incoming, I pick option 2, closer to Draven.

I keep track of how far away Draven is during the dive and I rely on my Stand Behind Me for disengage or to protect our ADC.

Purple/Pink is my Unbreakable Witch I can use in two directions here to protect on either Xin or Twitch, Unbreakable gives me movespeed in case I need to catch up with Draven. The green areas shows areas I got under control if we need to disengage or engage and how I open myself up for both W and Q here.

I have Flash ready in case I need to engage on the kill (Witch I did, Q > Flash > Passive procc > Draven kills > W to him > Unbreakable > Q Xin.

Building Freddie Mecarry.

Build:

You have two ways to start either:
Option 1: Ancient Coin 3x Health Potion and Stealth Ward.
Option 2: Ancient Coin 1x Health Potion, Stealth Ward and Sweeping Lens.
Go for Option 1 if you will trade a lot in lane. The two additional Health Potion help you to recover.
You should only go with option 2 if you think there will be a lot of jungle presence on your lane.

First time at Base

Less then 800g without Stealth Ward.

Ruby Crystal Stealth Ward

Less then 800g with Stealth Ward.

Ruby Crystal Faerie Charm

More then 800g

Sightstone Sweeping Lens

The first item you should get is still Sightstone, and or Vision Ward's however after this is the time to save for Talisman of Ascension If you where less then 800G with Stealth Ward You will still catch up with having a pre paid Faerie Charm witch will also nullify the need to purchase Mana Potions.

Core Essentials

Talisman of Ascension

After (Tops) your third stop at shop you should have these items for Braum.
Your first step is to finish Talisman of Ascension if you haven't before third stop at shop. It will give you more gold, and a speed increase.

Boots.

Boots

Boots of Mobility

800g
The pinnacle of lane switching right? come on these are legendarious man. (yeah new word, deal.) They will offer good chase and escape ability, you can use this as it's in my optional build but I do recommend my optional build #2 more for it's defensive stats.
they are very early and mid game potent thus lacks a bit on late game as you should be with your team rather then roaming.

Ionian Boots of Lucidity

1000g
With this build these might be the worst boots you can get, they cost 1000g and the CDR would not stack, especially if you go with Spirit Visage for Magic resist. Ignore them even if you think you need that enemy team has not enough CC.

Mercury's Treads

1200g
This would probably be the third option to this built, depending on your enemy team composition. They offer tenacity witch by itself is worth the extra gold. They are pricy however and you will probably still be better of getting my recommended ones as you need that extra gold for the added bulk for late game.

Ninja Tabi

1000g
These are the ones I recommend the most, they offer Braum that little extra armor for the Talisman of Ascension build I'm suggesting. Most people would say "I recommend these if you are behind" No, I recommend these to be ahead of the competition. You can go with Homeguard as an upgrade or Distortion They are both really good. Depends on your summoner spells and match up.

Summary - Personal Footnote.

Well that is my Braum guide, I've made changes to it, small tweaks over a day and I will probably update it some more before I'm done, some sections needs to be added, wanted to have lane coverage and some more on match ups, things in that nature.

Big thank you for reading and I hope you can thumb up the thing, help me out a little as I put a lot of effort into this and also it being my first guide on Mobafire.
**Update is coming shortly**

Thanks to Mobafire, Freddy Mercury for being awesome and Braum.
