Garen is a tanky dps champion. His early game is amazing, "this allows him to deal tons of damage", and his passive allows for him to stay in the lane for extended periods of time. A lot of people say garens late game is only decent this build intends to help make you a monster both early and late.

This build is a hybrid build for Garen, and my personal favorite way to build him. Garen deals sh** tons of damage so I believe making him hybrid only makes sense.

These runes are in my opinion the best for Garen, just do to Garen's skills and just him in general. These runes are going to give you that needed armor pen, and wanted crits. This will allow you to deal... well tons of damage.

Ok starting out with boots and 3 health pots. This is going to give you speed against your enemy helping you chase them down... or escape?!?!? The potions will help you stay in lane longer along with your passive. They also help for harassing sense you'll be able to heal passively and with these. Next time you go back pick up some boots of speed.

After you've got you boots of speed we're now going to buy one of our core items. Now you can either buy the Frozen mallet here or Infinity edge. Now this depends on whether you want to start tanky or get a lot more damage early. The choice is yours. NOTE: The Frozen mallet still gives you damage and a little slow ability.

Once you've built either one of those go ahead and build the other.

Now we're really going to start to get tanky. And in order to do that we're going to need some health and more armor. So lets go ahead an get our self's a fun little sunfire cape. I love this items on Garen, well I love it in general. But on Garen who spends his time right in the enemy's faces this item rocks.

Ok now let us grab yet again another great item for Garen. Thornmail. This item like sunfire cape throws magic damage right at the enemy. The difference with Thornmail is it takes their standard attacks returns 30% of the damage into magic damage. So their almost always paying for attacking you.

Finally let us grab a bloodthirster. This is going to give us more damage yet again, and also allow us to heal our self's... wait correction *allow us to STEAL health from our enemies who will be hurting them self's while they attack us. Now I personally like getting this item last but if you need more health or armor, or some magic resist go ahead and take another item. If you want more damage though this item is the item your going to want.
