Threats to Shen with this build
Who am I????
Hey whats up guys I'm 1indian and I am gold this season in NA. I love tanks and play them often. tanks are great champs which you can fool around with in norms or go crazy with in ranked. They usually never die, and provide alot in a team.
Why play Shen?
Talk about annoying. Shen is just one of those champions where you can outplay alot of champions a decent amount of the time. Shen has some decent base damage, but excels at team fighting. However with Shen you need to provide a little bit more to the team so sometimes split pushing is necessary. The Shen ulti. puts the game in a whole new ball park with the number of team plays you can make.
Just a heads up though. There is no easy match up where you'll get kills with shen. Don't look for kills, look for assissts. Play it safe and farm. The only easy matchup you will get is if your opponent is really freaking low elo, afk or a troll.
After using an ability, Shen shields himself from damage for 2.5 seconds. If the triggering ability successfully affected at least one champion, Ki Barrier's cooldown is reduced by a few seconds.
Shen's power manifests as a Spirit Blade that he can control with his abilities.
Explanation: basically shen's abilities tend to surround his spirit blade which hovers a certain location; this is the passive part of your passive. When you activate an ability you gain a shield which will protect you from damage over a certain period of time. The cooldown is lowered when you affect a champion with an ability, so use that knowledge to your advantage and try to get your shield up as many times as possible during a fight
ACTIVE: Shen recalls his Spirit Blade to his location and Twilight Assault Weak empowers his next 3 basic attacks within 8 seconds to deal bonus magic damage. Enemies the blade collides with are Slow icon slowed by a % for the next 2 seconds when moving away from Shen.
If the Spirit Blade collides with an enemy champion, the empowerment is Twilight Assault Strong enhanced, dealing a % of target's maximum health bonus damage and gain 50% bonus attack speed.
Empowered attacks against non-champions deal additional damage, but their damage is capped.
Explanation: It makes you hit harder for your next three attacks and draws your spirit blade towards you. When it hits an enemy champion the damage is increased and the opponent is slowed. when running away, you can call forth your spirit blade to you if it is behind an enemy in order to slow them down and help you escape.
ACTIVE: Shen primes his Spirit Blade for 2 seconds, causing it to project a protective zone around it for 1.75 seconds if he or an allied champion move nearby, causing allies in the zone to dodge attacks.
Explanation: basically a zone around your spirit blade is created where autos don't do any damage to allies. This includes winions(i call minions winions if you haven't seen some of my other guides). Don't forget that you can pull this zone to you with your twilight assault. Make sure you or an ally is near the blade when you activate the ability.
PASSIVE: Damage from Shadow Dash and Twilight Assault recovers energy
ACTIVE: Shen dashes in the target direction, dealing physical damage to all enemy champions and monsters he hits and Taunt icon taunting them for 1.5 seconds.
Explanation: this is basically a skill shot that uses your cahmpion and if landed it taunts them. It is a linear ability so no need for fancy **** *cough cough diana cough cough*. Taunted opponents will only target you, and cannot run away from you which makes for good peel.
ACTIVE: Shen channels for 3 seconds, Stand United Shield shielding the target allied champion for up to 5 seconds.
Upon completing the channel, Shen and his Spirit Blade blink to the target ally's location.
Explanation: This is your #1 ninpo.....except everyone in visual range can see it. It is a global ulti, meaning you can ult from anywhere on the map and is effectively a tp that works on champions instead of minions and wards. Your ulti also gives a shield which can be used for clutch saves for your ADC or mid laner. Even if you are going to die, if you think that your shield can save someone ult them. However just like a tp, cc such as pulls stuns and roots can prevent you from travelling to the target location.
SUPER SECRET STRATS: shen=ninja
Super Secret Strats time boiz. Imma tell you the first thing you probably didn't know: shen is a ninja.
You are probably like "wait a minute 1Indian, it says in his lore that he's a ninja.....How in the world are you gold???"
Well idk bout you guys but zed is way more ninja like imo. The thing that makes Shen a great ninja is his synchronization with invisibility kits.
This was introduced to me by my buddy Sciz0r. He was like one ranked game "oh **** your playing shen?? Thats it im playing twitch" He later told me that if I get out of vision and ult him whilst he's invisible, the enemy can't see the ulti. He called this: the submarine tactic. this made for sick ganks bot lane and after I ganked bot, I could tp back top for max pressure.
So go ahead and use your ninpo to travel to other areas of the map without being seen.
In lane don't try to engage on anyone unless you are getting ganked by a carry jg, or hes diving you under turret. Do your best to wave clear and farm to get the gold you need for defensive items. Look for tp or ulti plays around the map in order to get your assisst score rising. If you are against tank killers, like trundle darius and fiora, take care and play super passive. Against other tanks, you'll be having wet noodle fights all day and its really just a waste of your time.
How to play in teamfights
In team fights the goal is to be a brick that soaks up damage and never dies. You have a few options when it comes to engages:
1) use your ulti on a tank who engages for you that way when you some in you are already in the center of the team and can soak up the maximum amount of damage. This also gives you the chance to taunt the enemy adc
2) The other significant way you can play it is you can flash taunt an opponent, wich is honestly one of the more ninja like things shen can do. this lets you make a pick and gives you hard engage. Also if you live and someone else is dying it lets you ulti them to give them a shield whether or not you make it to them.
3)when your opponents engage on you taunt the first person who hops on your adc. this gives the adc time to put distance between themselves and the opponent.
A good tool to help your adc out is your spirit's refuge. Postion your spirit blade close to your adc. If someone hops on the adc who is auto attack reliant, then proc your refuge in order to give them 2 secs. of no damage.
