Nunu Build Guide by joker44

A couple of things that I don't like about this guide is your DPS build. While Nunu can go DPS perfectly well, he has the best attack speed steroid in the game. There's absolutely no reason to get even *more* attack speed items on him.

Additionally, jungling without smite is a big no-no, even on Nunu. Smite makes your jungle go faster. And that's about it. Like, really. It makes your jungle go faster. Why would you want to waste time when you could earn half-a-minute or so? Not to mention, if your jungler does not carry smite, the enemy jungler can easily steal buffs/dragon.

What makes Nunu so crazy good is that he can secure any objective in the game with his Consume/ Smite-combo. You just killed that advantage.

Additionally, even with your HP quints, you end up dangerously low on health, letting another prominent counter-jungler, or their jungler, simply snag you and get a free buff with minimal effort.
You'd argue that they don't know that you're jungling, but a competent opponent will check your buff beforehand, and if all seems clear, perhaps even do that one instead, leaving you at a rather large disadvantage.

Not gonna -1, but the guide could use some tweaking.

I have added smite to the jungle build and I have also adjusted a few other components of my jungling section. While I myself do not need smite to jungle successfully I have added it in to appease the rest of you. Enjoy :D

As for the down vote, I'm not exactly sure what I need to do to make my builds better with your comment so no changes have been made.

Very nice, love how much time went into this build!

I haven't tried all of them yet since I just started the game like 2 weeks ago but your tank build has really helped me out. Me and my friends when we first started were winning maybe 1/5 games a day and now we're only losing maybe 1 out of every 10 games. I had some mana problems in the beginning of the game usually and also low defense but thats likely because I don't have the most efficient purchase order. My scores for the few games that we actually finish (because the opposing team usually surrenders :) ), its usually 3-6 kills, less than 5 deaths and 15+ assists. I'll have to try out some of your other builds in the future :).

I dislike each of the four builds for a few reasons. With your tank build, I don't believe that Nunu needs a warmogs to tank because other defensive items with hp work fine, such as BV, Randuin's, and Sunfire. Additionally, a laning Nunu may struggle to farm out the creep kills needed to fill Warmog's quickly, though he can clear creeps well if not griefed and allowed to proc visionary.

With your mage build, the Kage's pick stacking seems like an overkill. Nunu scales very well with AP and can farm decently, specifically if jungling/ganking. When playing as a mage, Nunu still needs some survivability because after he uses his ulti, he needs to survive long enough to ice blast multiple times. I would recommend considering abyssal scepter or zhonya's hourglass depending on the enemy team comp.

In terms of DPS Nunu, I do not like this idea, but I have not tried it so I cannot bash it too much. In terms of just DPS build theory crafting, why do you have both cleaver and last whisper? Having both flat armor pen/reduction mixed with % reduction is an ineffective combination. In essence, with the 40% pen from last whisper you only receive 60% of the benefits from other flat armor pen sources. If this statement confuses you, I will gladly explain the math in a further comment. Additionally, why Sword of the Divine on Nunu? He has great attack speed and you've built multiple attack speed items already. I do like that you included one tanky item in the DPS build section because Nunu will need survivability, like all DPS.

Can't say too much about your jungle Nunu section, as I find this the most effective way to play him. I would consider using armor seals because they provide you, in essence, extra hp in the jungle. I find dodge to be less effective, though they do work well with the dodge talent. Keep in mind that with smite/consume, Nunu does not need HP quints nor the cloth armor/5hp pots start. There are a variety of good alternative quints and great start combos, including combos with a sight ward. Finally, I do not like wriggles latern on Nunu. Granted I buy toooooooons and tons of wards with Nunu, I find that wriggles overall does not help you in any typical Nunu build (outside of DPS Nunu maybe) and will be a wasted item slot/sold later. Consume and smite is plenty of jungling power and I believe that Wriggles gimps Nunu from getting other items he needs (Banshees as one example). I see that you rank bloodboil early over ice blast, but I consider this to be a personal preference. I've been meaning to try it out, and I assume it works best when you have a slightly fed carry to buff who scales well with attack speed.

Overall, I think you provide an interesting way of looking at Nunu, but many of your builds can be improved. Also consider expanding the guide to discuss play styles and tips/tricks of each type of build. I do like your section on soloing a lane with Nunu! With improvements, I'd gladly change my vote.

Alright Awesome! I am getting some constructive criticism! I am planning on doing some changes to this guide now that I see all of the random problems in it that need to be fixed.
