NuNu may not look it, but he is built for high ability power. His magic attacks are some of the strongest in the game. This I believe is a good mix of ability power, magic penetration, movement, and endurance. Also keep in mind that Zhonya's ring gives 25% to your total AP. Here is a look at your spell damages:

Absolute Zero - 2,438 Damage
While channeling for 3 seconds, slows nearby enemy units' attack speed and movement speed. After channeling, enemies caught in the area are dealt 625 / 875 / 1125 (+250% of ability power) magic damage.

Ice Blast - 800 damage
Nunu throws a ball of ice at an enemy unit, dealing 85 / 130 / 175 / 225 / 275 (+100% of ability power) magic damage and slowing their movement speed by 40 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60% and attack speed by 25% for 4 seconds.

Consume - 900 damage / + 950 HP
Takes a bite out of target minion, dealing 500 / 600 / 700 / 800 / 900 damage and restoring 125 / 200 / 275 / 350 / 425 (+100% of ability power) health.

Here are some of the bonuses from equipment:

UNIQUE Aura: Reduces the Magic Resist of nearby enemy champions by 20.

UNIQUE Passive: Increases Ability Power by 25%.
UNIQUE Active: Places your champion into Stasis for 2 seconds, rendering you invulnerable and untargetable but unable to take any actions. 90 sec cooldown.

UNIQUE Passive: 100% chance when an ability is used that your next physical attack deals an additional 100% of your Ability Power in damage. This effect has a 3 second cooldown.

Passive: Dealing spell damage slows the target's movement speed by 35% for 2 seconds (15% for multi-target spells).
