Nice guide been using it a little now and it seems amazing, however I would like to point out regarding to the resistances that as you build up more armor/MR you indeed gain less % damage reduction for each point. But because of the already reduced damage, lets say 50%, you only need 25% more damage reduction to halve the damage you are taking at the 50% mark. For example if you have 10% damage reduction and you want to reduce the damage you take further by 10% you only need 9% damage reduction, however do not think that this equals to 20% damage reduction. I also would like to say that each point of armor or resistance reduce the damage you take by 1/(1+[0.01Y])=X where Y is the amount of armor you have and X is the "real" value of armor you are getting for each point. For example lets take 50, 100 and 200 armor values: This is just all unneeded math and only packs up or gives more information of the equation: Y/(100+Y)=Z (% reduction from armor and MR) 1/(1+[0.01Y])=X 1/(1+[0.01*50])=2/3 1/(1+[0.01*100])=1/2 1/(1+[0.01*200])=1/3 Y*X=Z .................. Y/(100+Y)=Z .... Y=Armor X="real" armor value per point Z=dmg reduction in % 50*2/3=33.333... . 50/(100+50)=33.333.... 100*1/2=50 ........ 100/(100+100)=50 200*1/3=66.666... 200/(100+200)=66.666... TL;DR The diminishing returns aren't as bad as you let people know in your guide! PS. not sure of all the math :D Oh also, because of the changes to Irelia's ulti wouldn't it be worth to get brutalizer or Youmuu instead of Madreds to increase the damage of ulti and lower CDs? This would "allow" her to buy 3rd gp5 item aswell and get that Use: thingy combined with her W. Personally I've never been a big fan of madreds so I've bought warmogs instead :). Yeah that math is somewhat unnecessary. Just get resistances to about 130-160, and with decent HP, you'll be able to Off-Tank vrs -most- effectively. No, it really is a tremendous waste after a certain point to just keep getting resistances. You're much better served finding ways to: A: Increase your damage. Or B: Increase your health. Logic being, your enemy dies faster, you will take less damage. Logic being, your HP is higher, the resistances are spread over a larger surface, therefore increasing their effect as well. It's almost always much more efficient once you have about 150 resistances to just get more health instead of continuing to stack resistances. --- In regards to Irelia: Youmuu's would be a fine option, but it would mostly just help vrs fragile carries with their already low armor. With the runes, you'll have what, roughly 40-50 ArP if you buy Youumuu's? That would help vrs squishies, that's about it; mostly I think the crit chance and the attack speed will benefit you on Youmuu's. However, an item like Last Whisper or Madred's is going to benefit you against all targets. This is why I prefer Madred's. The armor doesn't hurt either. It's up to you really, Youmuu's is a viable choice and a good option in certain games.

I didn't reach level 30 yet and i get the concept, however i think trinity tanks are still not that perfect, i think it would take alot of time to take your target down especially champs like tryn and then they would run away or ambush you like in TFs ult, but it's a tank that can't be ignored(opinion before trying). It's always fun to tryout new thoughts and builds specially from people like you, who actually use their minds :). Keep it upz! |

I am not particularly fond of laying support in pub games, rather with reliable team members." Well, you're maybe right, I never really was in low elo, it was my first account and I did 1200-1700 in like 10 games, but one or two tanky champions are always needed anyways. "Yet, if you browse this site, you will find build after build chop full of damage." I'm too lazy to check out this website, but that's just sad. "If I were 8 years old, I would love my guide too. Everyone should love everything I do ;D" Leave your e-***** as it is, I just wanted to say that you were writing in an immature style. ^^ "I watch plenty of stream and I can assure you I'm not just copying the EU meta game. Because, all of the corrections you gave me, are correcting me to simply follow the EU meta game." Well I don't really see the difference between EU metagame with a quite bad built off-tank and your new meta game. "Xin 1: Frozen Mallet, Wriggle's, Youmuu's, Black cleaver, Banshee's veil." This build is horrible, xin doesn't need frozen mallet or black cleaver imo, not before having some tankiness before. "Also, if I wanted to build tank items first on my Jarvan before finishing Trinity Force, I would have written that in my guide. That's a more common approach to playing Jarvan, yes. I suppose that's the point of the guide though, isn't it?" I'll explain you why people play like this: Jarvan's skills are strong enough by themselves early game, you don't need trinity, but jarvan isn't tanky enough by himself early game, this is why you build tanky. Have you ever tried to play jarvan with no trinity force? You'll see you'll be dealing as much as damage early game. "Jarvan can't beat Teemo unless you BUILD Jarvan specifically to beat Teemo. With two Philo stones and a rejuv bead, you have so much HP regen and skill spam that Teemo actually finds himself in a lot of trouble. I'm sure there are ways to counter my item choices, but it was late enough when he realized what I had done that he opted to simply leave the lane. We could talk about this specific example for an hour, but the point was simply that I used gear to win the lane." Two philo stones is the way 99% of jarvans I see in ranked are playing, but that teemo still wasn't good enough if he let you farm that quite fast. He can zone you or make it impossible for you to farm so easily. "You're taking these instructions quite literally. Which is understandable, I wrote them for a reason. I wrote this, to try to get it into people's heads that they need to be the aggressors, and the initiators. As an Off-Tank, you will do more damage than perhaps a full tank would. You can take advantage of this, by pressuring the carry." You may be right telling people to play aggressively, but you can't forget that you aren't unkillable, and that if a whole team focuses you you die fast, as I said before, focusing tanks can lead to a 4v5 if done well. "Well I suppose we shall soon find out ;) I'll be getting internet in my apartment soon, and I'll take a bit of time to get back in the swing, and then it's off to the horse races I go. ;D" Indeed, we shall find out, if they have 1 player smart enough to tell his team to focus you, you won't go far, I'm sorry my friend. "Well, you can certainly skill E. E is fine, I just have enough mana regen to be able to use my Q to farm effectively with my items runes and specs. That's the main reason. I prefer not to miss a single minion right from the start." Again, you won't go far with such a logic, you can't just spam skills to farm. And even with this logic, it's stupid, doesn't Q mana required increased when you level it? ANYONE should be able to farm with irelia Q at level 1, it already deals enough damage. "I use the minions like a ladder to hop along towards or away from the enemy, when they think I am in danger or think that they are safe. If Q is not leveled, it's less effective. Again, the skill leveling is not the focal point, and you can make the argument that E is better. You'd be right in a lot of respects, Q is probably only better for farming (Which can be done in -most- lanes just by last hitting well)" If you saw the ways I've escaped with Irelia using level 1 Q, you'd want to copy it so badly, I've succeeded some escapes I'm still dreaming of and wishing I had recorded. Q isn't even better for farming, more level = more mana, more mana = less Qs, level 1 Q is enough, trust me. "Well I think it's my turn to tell you you don't know what you're talking about. Madred's is an amazing item on her, provides her even more armor, more ATS, and Madred's % damage proc has great synergy with her W and also with Trinity force. You're getting lots of free damage between Trinity and Madred's, it's very powerful. Yes, it's very expensive. You really don't have anything better to be doing once you finish trinity/Randuin's/Banshee's however. That's all you need is that core." I explained my thoughts bad, madred is indeed a great item for irelia, but it's just too expensive. There aren't many games where I've finished my whole irelia build, and all the ones I can remember lasted over 60 mins, once I played a 90 min game with her, and I doubt I could even have got madred, assuming I bought lots of elixirs. And I'm a GREAT, really OP farmer, so it's not about me. Madred is an utopic item for her, you shouldn't be able to get it. "I am 100% convinced that this is the best way to build Blitz. You should try it before you knock it. Manamune is a waste on Blitz." I really rarely play blitz, but everytime I do it I ****ING rape. Trust me, manamune gives you over 80 damage, and over 500 hp (I forgot how the passive works), if you go 0-7-23, you also get crazy hp regen with all that mana, there is not a single reason to get atmas instead of manamune, you often say it's about opinions, but here it isn't about opinions, this is a real fact, it's the truth. "Are you referring to Maokai? I hope you're joking. I would have thought a high ELO player would be able to understand something this simple." I know his skills are based on magic, but still, CDR is just way better for him than a void staff, you get no ****ing use out of it, and it also gives you armor. "Also, if you catch her in a 1v1 before she gets life steal, she's dead. If you don't believe me, get one of your high ELO friends, and farm up 11k gold worth of items, and all you buy is Trinity, Randuin's, and Banhsee's veil, and fight 1v1, the Ashe can buy whatever she wants." What you just said here is incredibly stupid, ashe isn't supposed to be a 1v1 champion, she even THE worst carry to do burst damage or to 1v1. What makes ashe OP is her ultimate. "I have played 4 ranked games =P I know that's going to make you laugh and everything I've written becomes "Irrelevant" and my only response to that, is I will be playing ranked soon ^^" I thought so, I wasn't expecting you to have many ranked games(or even none at all). "Also, feel free to continue the comment chain if you want. =P" Well, here you are. ^^ ""Well, my personal experience is that in a low ELO, you can't rely on other players to perform. My preference is to carry. If you already have a carry or two, my preference is to off-tank. I am not particularly fond of laying support in pub games, rather with reliable team members." Well, you're maybe right, I never really was in low elo, it was my first account and I did 1200-1700 in like 10 games, but one or two tanky champions are always needed anyways." That's why I made an Off-Tanking guide silly willy =_= ""If I were 8 years old, I would love my guide too. Everyone should love everything I do ;D" Leave your e-***** as it is, I just wanted to say that you were writing in an immature style. ^^" You've got quite an inflated e-***** yourself champ. It's easy to feel cocky with 2k ELO, I understand why, but I could tell you to drop the swagger mentality too just as easily. Or, we could simply speak to each other as equals. I don't need to be told how the game works, and neither do you, yet you talk to me like it was my first time playing, simply because you don't agree with my strategy. =P ""I watch plenty of stream and I can assure you I'm not just copying the EU meta game. Because, all of the corrections you gave me, are correcting me to simply follow the EU meta game." Well I don't really see the difference between EU metagame with a quite bad built off-tank and your new meta game." That's exactly the point. You assume it's bad, and so would everyone else who plays like you. Yet, it works. That's exactly why I made the guide. To spread information. -Good- information. ""Xin 1: Frozen Mallet, Wriggle's, Youmuu's, Black cleaver, Banshee's veil." This build is horrible, xin doesn't need frozen mallet or black cleaver imo, not before having some tankiness before." Tell it to Mr. Guardsman, I don't like this build at all either. ""Also, if I wanted to build tank items first on my Jarvan before finishing Trinity Force, I would have written that in my guide. You'll see you'll be dealing as much as damage early game." I didn't need this to be explained to me. I understood is clearly. And yes, I never had success with JArvan until I started building Trinity Force, that was when I began to find success with him. I'm not high ELO, but I'm educated and experienced. ""Jarvan can't beat Teemo unless you BUILD Jarvan specifically to beat Teemo. He can zone you or make it impossible for you to farm so easily." Don't know what to tell you, but he's 1900 ELO. Perhaps you're underestimating me and my builds, my style of play, my choice of skill leveling? Just a thought. Teemo would beat most Jarvan's, but I don't build like most Jarvan's. ""You're taking these instructions quite literally. Which is understandable, I wrote them for a reason. I wrote this, to try to get it into people's heads that they need to be the aggressors, and the initiators. As an Off-Tank, you will do more damage than perhaps a full tank would. You can take advantage of this, by pressuring the carry." You may be right telling people to play aggressively, but you can't forget that you aren't unkillable, and that if a whole team focuses you you die fast, as I said before, focusing tanks can lead to a 4v5 if done well." Obviously. You have a HP bar, you can be killed. I didn't think that was necessary to explain to my readers... Almost felt like that would be an insulting thing to write out. "Oh, don't forget reader, you can die!" Lol. Of course you can die. That's why I mention careful, but aggressive initiation. You need to play well and play smart no matter how you build. ""Well I suppose we shall soon find out ;) I'll be getting internet in my apartment soon, and I'll take a bit of time to get back in the swing, and then it's off to the horse races I go. ;D" Indeed, we shall find out, if they have 1 player smart enough to tell his team to focus you, you won't go far, I'm sorry my friend." I guess you haven't been watching the recent tournaments. Every team focuses the Off-Tank, and EVEN if the Off-tank dies (Which they almost never do) then the other team is down a lot of important cool downs, and the Off-Tank still did it's job. The game's not a simple X + Y = Z, there are a million factors, and you're talking to me as if it were 1 dimensional. You can't always just focus the Off-Tank. Also, as I go I continually improve and adapt and rethink. As I mentioned, this build won't last forever, but for now, it works. Very well, I might add. ""Well, you can certainly skill E. ANYONE should be able to farm with irelia Q at level 1, it already deals enough damage." Yes... I can spam skills just to farm. That's the point I've been trying to make. I do it. It works. I know you think it won't work, you have your reasons why, etc. All I can say in response, is to each their own. I've heard lots of high ELO players talking about skill spam and this and that. When it stops working, I'll stop doing it. I only do it for creep farm on Irelia, because it works on Irelia. I'm not recommending that every champion do it. With Jarvan, I spam spear for harass. You might think I'd run out of mana, but I don't. It works. To each their own. ""I use the minions like a ladder to hop along towards or away from the enemy, when they think I am in danger or think that they are safe. Q isn't even better for farming, more level = more mana, more mana = less Qs, level 1 Q is enough, trust me." As I said before, go ahead and level E. That's your choice. But don't tell me how to level my skills, or that the way I level them is bad, because I know that leveling Q works for a different purpose, and to a different effect. I don't level Hiten style, so my E is still strong as well. To each their own, again. level 1 Q may be "Enough," but I have a method I use that works quite well for me, and it involves leveling Q first. Cheers. ""Well I think it's my turn to tell you you don't know what you're talking about. Madred is an utopic item for her, you shouldn't be able to get it." If you can't finish this build in 90 minutes, you're not as good at farming as I am. There's not a way in hell that amount of time would pass and I don't finish this build. I do get that item on her, don't know what to tell you. Usually, however, the game ends between Trinity Force, and Banshee's Veil or Randuins, somewhere between those 3 items. ""I am 100% convinced that this is the best way to build Blitz. You should try it before you knock it. Manamune is a waste on Blitz." I really rarely play blitz, but everytime I do it I ****ING rape. Trust me, manamune gives you over 80 damage, and over 500 hp (I forgot how the passive works), if you go 0-7-23, you also get crazy hp regen with all that mana, there is not a single reason to get atmas instead of manamune, you often say it's about opinions, but here it isn't about opinions, this is a real fact, it's the truth." Stop it, lol. You look like a child when you talk to me like I've never played the game. I know what manamune does on Blitz, it's a great effect. But I don't need it, I find the benefits and synergies of the item's I've listed far outweigh the effect f Manamune. I'm telling you right now, with certainty, this build I have listed blows Manamune out of the water. I wouldn't trade anything listed on the build, not even Atma's, for Manamune. The only change that could be made, is to swap Atma's for: Warmogg's, sunfire, or Last Whisper, depending on the situation. You don't even know what Blitz's passive does, how are you going to tell me how to build him? Lol. Singed is the mana for health guy, Blitz gets a mana shield that lasts for a short time. At least have the respect to know what the champions do before you try to correct my build. And no, it's not a fact, or truth. There is no such thing as a factual best build in League of Legends. It's your opinion, and I'm telling you, my -opinion- is that there is -no- better way to build Blitz, and if there is, it's certainly not going to involve Manamune. ""Are you referring to Maokai? I hope you're joking. I would have thought a high ELO player would be able to understand something this simple." I know his skills are based on magic, but still, CDR is just way better for him than a void staff, you get no ****ing use out of it, and it also gives you armor." Again, you seem to have missed what I said. Void Staff for damage, FH for tankiness. Clear enough? ""Also, if you catch her in a 1v1 before she gets life steal, she's dead. What makes ashe OP is her ultimate." I know very well what makes Ashe a good champion. How is it stupid? If I catch her in a 1v1, she's ****ed? That's not a stupid thing to say at all, it's 100% True. You're avoiding my points because you think they're irrelevant. That Ashe can't fight me, she needs her team to protect her. Yes, in high ELO, you should have the team to protect her. Team fights are not 1v1's. Champion's get caught. These are real and applicable scenarios, and my point is her armor pen is not enough to make up for her lack of resistance's without a team to back her up. I never said she was good at 1v1? See this is the problem with you guys, you get too focused on one example. Open your mind, I'm talking about a concept here, not just a champion vrs champion scenario. I only bring it up to prove a point which is that your HP and resistances + your damage will protect you enough to kill a carry first. You can tell me how noob that is and how stupid and ignorant it is because the team and yada yada, and that I don't understand that Ashe is good for her ult, blah blah blah. I -do- understand that. -You- are the one who missed the point, -not me- ;P ""I have played 4 ranked games =P I know that's going to make you laugh and everything I've written becomes "Irrelevant" and my only response to that, is I will be playing ranked soon ^^" I thought so, I wasn't expecting you to have many ranked games(or even none at all)." Well of course you didn't. That's why you feel entitled to have the ability to talk to me like a newborn =) Again, I openly accept your comments and I enjoy having intelligent debate and discussing opinions and ideas about the game. What I don't enjoy, is being spoken to like I literally haven't the faintest idea as to how the game functions. I will further discuss the points proven if we can discuss them as equals, rather than me being your student, and you being my teacher. If I needed a teacher, I'd go to College and do something with my life =P *Rebel sunglasses* Cheers mate.

Irelia was my first 6k champ that I saved up for. I loved her but after a while i went into a stalemate, I haven't played her since like 3 weeks after i bought her. I tried this guide after reading it, and it works flawlessly. It gives you immense survivability while putting out a great deal of damage from Irelia's own moves, every time I use this build I do great. Great guide Duff. |

I have read you whole thing top to bottom and I gotta say, PHENOMINAL!!! (I think that's right). Everything is so cogent and supported, you definitely know how to write a sound arguement. |
