Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Welcome Olaf players.Having a well build Olaf can make or break team fights, so I am here to help you build him the right way. Olaf is a quick damage hitter who can stay safe in the early lvls of the lane. With undertow at his side you can safely rack up minion kills wile keeping the enemy at bay. How to build Olaf is up to you, you can go AD and kill everyone, you can go Armor tank and soak up damage like a boss, or you can go my personal favorite Hybrid but focusing on HP tank. Olaf thrives as a Hp tank with his W ability you can have massive amounts of damage wile you have the survivability of a Tank. His passive will stay on longer seeing as you won't die but it will be come slower. So if you are up against a hard hitter such as Lux your passive may not be of as much use.
For Mark I my self love love love Armor Pen. This stacks with his passive ult and makes you a Tank killing machine, wile still being a tank yourself this is also why i take it for my Quintessence. For Seals I take flat Armor because your need that extra push of armor and the flat Hp build wont be as much use if you take tons of damage.Glyphs again is for the surviving, against a mage or a dps your going to need to stay alive as tank that is your duty to soak up as much damage as you can.
Don't worry about them really does anyone come to these builds for masteries help? Didn't think so. I just go with DPS ones just so i can help in a team fight.
Okay here is the fun part, building a tank who can just sit and take hit after hit and not look like he is going down at all. First off I like to build a phage, this item is your foundation but you don't need to build it first off or even until first gank occurs. Next boots, go for what you prefer but for a tank I always get ninja tabi, these things save my life, you can take more hits if you dodge 3 of them and the armor is nice to. Frozen Mallet is the thing you NEED above all things in this build I take the Frozen if you wanna take anything out of my build its fine but not the frozen. The slowing for the chase or just for the Hp this item was made for Olaf. Next I like my Atmas they are great for the passive that gives the Ad of your Hp and the armor and the crit rate help some times too (; For me this is the foundation of the build where you go from here is mostly up to you. Warmog's are always nice for the extra W damage and surviving but if your up against all mages or some seriously quick damage out put get something like banshees or any armor time.
Undertow is nice for FB and getting that damage off from a distance. Maxing out your first skill is up to you, jungle olaf gets his W first. long range Olaf gets undertow, and going for a quikc over extended kill gets his E first. Ults at 6,11,16 as usual and get your W last for most situations.
I always have exhaust and take Flash or Ghost. Ghost is always great because you can run away no matter what. "hey exhaust, oh wait *Ults* *Ghosts* *runs aways really fast as hell*" then you yell Lulz at the other team because they tried to exhaust olaf :P.
Olaf Thrives with a carry and support just like any tank so please don't pick this olaf build when you have 3 other thanks "Going AP". In your lane I would like to see you in a solo top lane when having a jungler. Or having someone with lots of CC (Crowd Control Ex. Stuns, Knock up, Snare) because that gives and easy undertow wile getting close for that true damage on Reckless Swing, knowing when to go into battle and when not to is the tanks job so always know when your out numbered or when you can grab they by the throats and grab there.... Nads?
