Rylais isn't trash and its pretty core because it's pretty difficult to chase down your enemies as morde, plus it gives your survivability something that DFG doesn't provide. What your saying I should do is make morde a glass cannon which is just dumb entirely because then hell kill one person then die in the team fight. And I do get lich bane on two of my way to build him, and the only one i didn't put lichbane is the one where you go tanky with really strong AP.
Heres the thing, health ISN'T survivability on Mordekaiser.
AP isn't crazy damage.
DFG has FAR more survivability on it than Zhonya's or Rylai's do.
15% CDR means that your cooldowns are 15% lower, and that means you're generating at least 17% more shield.
Rylai is bad because it's not really effective enough to save you from dying, or to get you kills.
rylais is a core item for morde because he has trouble chasing down an enemy and it just synergizes too well with gunblade to pass up. Also, you need the ap late game so you either get zhonyas or deathcap. Deathcap if your owning and zhonyas if your worried about dying or are dying
Rylai's is a trash item on mordekaiser.
If rylai's is your "core" then your mordekaiser is trash.
Remove Rylai's, then replace Zhonya's with DFG.
I can see you're trying to build him with a bunch of AP, but you can't just build 5 deathcaps and boots and call it a day.
Morde needs Lich Bane and DFG to be effective as AP (DFG for both the CDR and the active.)
You can literally insta kill people with Lich Bane proc'd Q + Ult + DFG.
