Pantheon is one of my favorite champions in dominion. Just because he is so effective with his ultimate and stun. My playing style might not be conventional. I am just trying to share my way of playing him in dominion.
13 points in offense :
One point in Summoner's Wrath to increase my AD on cooldown. Other points for Attack Speed, Attack Damage, Cool Down Reduction and Armor Penetration.
14 points in defense :
3 points each for Armor and Magic Resist to get a significant advantage early game. 4 points in Durability, 3 points in Vigor and 1 point in Veteran's Scars to improve my survivability.
3 points in utility :
3 points in Good Hands to reduce my revival time by 10%. [ Very useful in dominion ]
For runes I take :
Greater Quintessence of Desolation
Greater Mark of Desolation
The Armor Penetration Quintessences and Marks are needed to slice through your enemy's armor. The flat Armor Seals and the flat Magic Resist Glyphs give you an early advantage over your enemies which is very significant in dominion.
Ignite to tear apart any enemy 1-on-1. Also very useful to kill enemies trying to run on less health.
I take Flash to escape on low health. Sometimes also useful while defending towers and also to kill enemies by confusing them.
I start with a
Boots of Speed and
Pickaxe and head top initially. I used to take
Boots of Swiftness straight away earlier but now use this one since the AD from
Pickaxe comes very handy. Also since you aren't going to reach much faster then your teammates you may as well go well equiped :)
I take Boots of Swiftness on my first return to base. This is a must buy item on dominion. With this you are almost certain of finishing of an enemy with low health. Since you also have flash and ignite and your spear shot. Also helps to escape on low health most of the times.
I then buy BF Sword and upgrade to Infinity Edge. You 'have' to take Infinity Edge as pantheon. Then you are almost certain of killing an enemy below 15% health with a single spear shot after using Heartseeker Strike. Also the bonus AD comes in real handy for your Heartseeker Strike. You can tear apart squishy champions like ashe, twisted fate...etc with a ( Aegis of Zeonia stun + Heartseeker Strike + Spear Shot ) combo.
I also take Hexdrinker which keeps me alive against mage champions enough to jump on them afterwards and use the same combo. This item is very effective against burst damage. Also get bonus AD which is always welcome for a champion like Pantheon.
Last Whisper provides extra armor penetration so that I can slice through enemies like butter.
Then I take Thornmail to counter enemies like Master Yi, Xin zhao and other AD champs.
I finish with Frozen Mallet to give some extra health. It is also very useful so that my targets stick to me and I can finish them off.
Other Items that can be used :
After attacking or casting spells 4 times, Pantheon will gain a shield that will block the next normal or enhanced standard attack that deals more than 40 damage to him.
This passive is very useful in fights and tower dives. Also after using Aegis of Zeonia Pantheon will instantly refresh his Aegis Protection. Allows you to easily tower dive on champions with low health. Even when enemies are half on health use ( Aegis of Zeonia stun + Heartseeker Strike + Spear Shot ) combo to tower dive and devastate enemies while counting on your block to save you.
IMPORTANT TIP : Before the game starts use Heartseeker Strike 4 times to enable Aegis Protection. You are gonna love it when you reach top and your enemy's first spell goes down the drain.
Pantheon hurls his spear at an opponent dealing physical damage. If Heartseeker Strike has been leveled up once, Spear Shot will crit to deal 150% damage against opponents whose current health is below 15% of their max health.
Very effective when used with Infinity Edge. Also more effective when used after Heartseeker Strike. Remember to always use this last to finish off enemies trying to run away.
AEGIS OF ZEONIA
Pantheon leaps at an enemy and bashes the enemy with his shield, stunning them for 1 second. Pantheon will also instantly refresh his Aegis Protection.
This is what makes Pantheon so effective. Always use this to stun your enemies before using Heartseeker Strike. If used perfectly with Heartseeker Strike your enemy should have been reduced to less then 50% health and trying to run away from you already.
IMPORTANT TIP : Pantheon's stun may fail under certain circumstances as I have observed such as Alistair's Headbutt, Wukong's Cyclone, Shauna Vayne's Condemn, Rammus's Powerball. Take extra caution while engaging such champions. Also while engaging multiple enemies choose your stun targets wisely.
(Passive): Pantheon's autoattacks gain 100% critical strike chance against targets whose current health is below 15% of their max health.
(Active): Pantheon channels for 0.75 seconds and deals 3 swift strikes in a cone in front of him. Each strike deals physical damage, and they deal double damage to champions.
This is your best weapon. This can make or break your fight. So make sure your enemy gets a bite of this completely. Preferably use after Aegis of Zeonia when your target is stunned. Use Spear Shot to finish off your enemy if not dead already. Very effective against multiple enemies as well.
IMPORTANT TIP : If your enemy isn't damaged enough or if by any chance you miss your Heartseeker Strike on the enemy, don't hang around. Your enemy would have probably finished you by the time your Heartseeker Strike comes back from cooldown. Try to kite the enemy and make him think you are running away from him. If you are alive when your Heartseeker Strike comes back from cooldown it should be GG :)
(Active): Pantheon gathers his strength channeling for 2 seconds and then leaps high in to the air, crashing down at the target area 1.5 seconds later. Deals magic damage to units at the center (down to 50% at the edge) and slows them by 35% for 1 second. If the channeling is cancelled, the cooldown is reduced to 10 seconds.
I dunno about Summoner's Rift but when it comes to Crystal Scar this ability is like the gift unasked for. Use Grand Skyfall to disrupt enemies from stealing towers, to steal towers when you spot all the enemies far away from any tower. Never use to land on team fights unless or until it is absolutely necessary. If you don't get it right you are pretty sure to miss it badly sometime later.
With this I'm done with my simple way of playing Pantheon. I have observed that sometimes my build is not very effective late game against selective opponents. But most of the times it has kept me among the top 2.
