Pantheon Champion Spotlight
Hello, and welcome to my guide on Pantheon, where we will learn how to use Pantheon. I'm just an average player, so if my guide is a bit messed up, please comment. First, please watch the video above, it's the Riot games champion spotlight on Pantheon, it's very old, but i recommend you to watch this video before reading the guide. This video will show you how to use Pantheon, and it will give you tips and tricks about Pantheon.
Pantheon, the Artisan of war
Far above the clouds on Mount Targon resides a stalwart tribe of people known as the Rakkor who still revere combat and war as ultimate artforms. They remember the Rune Wars of Runeterra and know that the League of Legends can only repress the rising tides of violence for so long. Each member of the tribe is bred to be a disciplined and vicious warrior, preferring to battle soldiers of either the Noxian or Demacian armies only when outnumbered at least ten to one. Rakkor warriors are trained not only to be as lethal with their bare hands as the most capable martial artists, but also to fiercely wield the many relic-weapons of the tribe. Such treasures have been handed down from generation to generation, and have harnessed the mystical nature of Runeterra in their very cores. These relic-weapons are among the most dangerous in existence - and it comes as no surprise that they have found their way to the League of Legends in the hands of Pantheon.
This stone-faced warrior is a paragon of his people, his very existence an anthem of exultation to the art of combat. Pantheon found it insulting that the people of Valoran would install an organization to replace war, complete with so-called champions, without including the Rakkor. Gathering the blessings of his tribe and armed with the relics of his ancestors, he has descended on the League to show the world a true warrior. He cares not who he fights, and cares nothing for the pageantry or prestige of a League champion, but lives only for the austere glory of battle. As long as Pantheon breathes, he thirsts for another foe to vanquish.

After attacking or casting spells 4 times, Pantheon will block the next incoming basic attack or turret attack.
Pantheon's passive (aegis protection) allows him to excel in diving towers and fighting in combat vs one or many enemies at once. His passive in truth is his ultimate weapon as well as a defensive mechanism when surging into harsh and unforgiving combat. Calculating the amount of hits you require to earn this passive for every 4 attack moves dealt and using it against your enemies in combat will help you to survive combats as well as winning. A trick you can apply with this passive is when you are 1 tower hit away from dying. If you are lucky enough to be near creeps, hit a minion and use heart seeker strike immediately for 2 additional passive stacks. You can even use your spear shot (q) if necessary to survive the incoming volley.
Pantheon hurls his spear at an opponent, dealing 65/105/145/185/225 (+1.3) physical damage.
This is one of Pantheon's main offensive ability. It is excellent for harassing your enemy in lane to reduce their hp or give them a fear factor so they wouldn't dare to farm easily without taking hits. Use this ability as frequently as you can when the enemy champion is in range or to farm minions if you want to play safely (ALWAYS LEAVE ENOUGH MANA FOR STUN TO ESCAPE GANKS). The cost of the ability itself is very low and with the combination of mana regeneration runes and masteries, this is your multi-purpose weapon to winning your lane.
Aegis of Zeonia
Pantheon leaps at the target enemy champion and deals 50/75/100/125/150 (+1*AP) magic damage and stuns them for 1 second. Pantheon also instantly refreshes his Aegis Protection.
A leap along with a stun, helps you line up other abilities, gank, hunt, escape.
Passive: Pantheon's basic attacks and Spear Shot gain 100% critical strike chance against targets below 15% health.
Active: Pantheon focuses and deals 3 swift strikes in front of him for 13/23/33/43/53 (+0.5) physical damage per strike. Deals double damage to champions.
Upgrading this will allow you to activate your "Certain Death" passive which deals 150 percent extra damage on enemies below 15 percent hp. With the ratio of 3.6 on enemy champions, this ability will deal absurd amount of damage to any enemies caught within it.
When going offensive, try to use it with your stun (w) combination to maximize your damage output in combat. When trying to kill minions safely, use it from a distance to quickly gather a couple swipes to weak creeps.
When going defensive, use it to scare off enemies to zone them from getting creeps or attacking you.
In team fights, try to aim it at the weakest set of opponents. With the build that you will follow, this ability shreds anyone that is weak in an instance. Use this ability wisely as it is crucial not to miss any vital targets.
The fact that this ability is a skillshot is also a great thing. This is due to the fact that you can use this behind walls to catch off enemies that have flashed away from vision or are behind walls. You can also use this to prevent enemies from retreating back to base that are hiding in bushes.
Pantheon gathers his strength and then leaps high into the air, crashing down at the target area a few seconds later. Deals up to 400/700/1000 (+1*AP) magic damage to units at the center (down to 50% at the edge) and slows their Movement Speed by 35% for 1 second.
This ability is what defines Pantheon for what he is. It allows Pantheon to travel quickly to where the battle is needed most. This ability can be used to either cut down enemy escapes or instantly killing them if placed in the right spot.
In order to use this ability, you must be in good sync with your teammates when you gank. Also, this move can be easily denied by stuns, silences, or knock-backs so it is best to use it where the enemies can't see you.
Try to use this ability during large team fights as it deals 1000 magic damage at level 16 with great AoE and CC for slowing enemies caught below it. This ultimate is also great for initiating team fights.
This ability makes Pantheon also very strong because of his ability to split push another lane while your teammates are pushing other lanes. It causes the enemy to split which leaves you a chance to immediately start a 4v5 fight, should anyone come to deal with you.
This move can also be used as a great escape. If a group of enemies are approaching you and you have no immediate exit or enough time to teleport back to base, use it at a nearby location that is safe. Even when you are under attack, if the enemy champions used their CC abilities, you can still use it to escape afterwards as you soak in damage.
People often say that Pantheon's ult does no good in 1v1 fights in laning phase. This is not true at all however. Pretend to have backed away when you are level 6 and immediately use it on your enemy target. This way, you can satisfy yourself by using all abilities to maximize your potentials.
Pros / Cons
1. Can shutdown many mid champions (especially melee champions)
2. Great ganking potential with ultimate.
3. HUGE burst damage early-mid game.
1. Needs a strong early game to be effective later on.
2. Vulnerable to ganks.
3. Mana heavy champion.
Start with a long sword + 3 health pot for as much early game poke damage as possible. Boots have been changed in season 3 so it is not as good to start boots.
OR for more of a harass lane you can go the following: Crystalline Flask, Sight ward, Health Potion. You can opt to not get a ward if the enemy is a jungler is a really weak early game ganking jungler.
Mid- Game Items
These are the items that Pantheon needs to become a REALLY scary beast. The new Black Cleaver is perfect if people are buying armor, Merc Treads help you deal damage, because you cannot deal damage when you are cc'd. Bloodthirster is pantheons best friend as it gives A LOT of damage + some nice life steal to sustain in long fights. Dorans should be bought on your first buy for some extra early game punch.
Then buy MAW OF MALMORTIUS. It gives you AD equivalent to a percentage of your missing health. t also provides significant attack damage, and a spell shield that blocks 400 magic damage if it were to bring you to low health. The shield has a 60 second cool-down. This item allows Pantheon to stay in combat for longer, surprising the hell out of enemies as you constantly block and gain attack damage as they attack you, which can change the tide of a duel. It also allows you to enter team-fights with nowhere near full health.
Once you have your base damage items then you want to go for items that are typically defensive. Pick up warmogs and frozen mallet or you can pick up Warmogs and IE (FOR MORE DAMAGE).
Flash is a versatile summoner spell. It can be used as an offensive and defensive ability. Pantheon is a melee champion which means that he will need a way to either get in the fight quickly or get out.
A lot of enemies have sustains usually meaning that they'll either be healing as they fight or from their abilities. Igniting is also crucial for not letting enemies live with very little health remaining. This spell is good for Pantheon especially due to the fact that he is a melee champion while most mages are ranged. This means he can't dive further into towers due to his lack of ranged attacks. Ignite allows you to safely secure a kill without risking your own life during the game.
Strategy and Tactics
During laning phase, you want to abuse your spear shot (q) as much as possible. Not only does this give your enemy a fear factor to look out for, it also tells them that whatever creep score they are willing to get will not be free. This will cause them to lose a lot of creep score while you maintain your own. If situations however are unfavorable for you, the mana regeneration should help you to continue and gather creep scores by using either your spear shot (q) or heart seeker strike (e).
During fights, you always want to be on the weakest targets that deals the most damage. Your goal is to cancel out an enemy by annihilating them immediately. However, it is important to make sure that you are always ready to use your ultimate to where the situation is worst to assist your team and to stay away from enemies that will deal massive damage in team fights. Your job is to abuse your movement speed to kite your enemies while killing them.
Strengths: Great damage and mobility.
Pantheon has one of the greatest damage scaling in the game. This is why building a tanky pantheon is never worth its deal. His ultimate also allows him to travel at a great speed where combat is desperate for a victory.
Top Lane- Try to get an advantage by trying to auto attack into q whenever the enemy tries to go for cs
Mid Lane- Poke with Q constantly to try and get them low enough to combo them for a kill
Both- Focus on farming and make sure you watch where there jungler is. Constantly poke with q into e at level 2 whenever they try to cs/ Watch out for minion aggro though.
Top lane- try to take your tower while keeping up in cs get a kill or two if possible, Possible to roam mid and pick up a kill into tower or dragon
Mid lane- push lane out then start roaming try to obtain objectives
Try to force jungle fights and focus the ap or adc on the enemy team if you are in the lead
if your team is behind you need to peel for your adc
I have played many games with pantheon, and I still find him one of my best champion.
