Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
What about the patch?
They edited "empower" to no longer deal aoe damage, but more damage on one target.
Since the patch it is possible to stack "empower" with "leap strike" and so it is possible to output awesome damage at early game, mid game and late game, while the former early game of Jax was very hard and boring, it is now possible to harass and actually kill enemy champions.
As if this both isn't enough his "relentless assault" isn't only passive anymore. It is now possible to activate it and get magic resistance depending on your dodge rate, with the passive still stacking.
If you are playing against strong melee champions you should level "counter strike" some more times at early game than "empower" or "leap strike", but do always skill "leap strike" first, cause you will need it to harass!
It always depends on your enemys in which order you do have to buy all these items.
- I baught "The Black Cleaver" before "The Bloodthirster" last game, cause we are playing against one very strong Malaphite
- I buy "Ninja Tabi" before "Vampiric Scepter" if the enemy isn't harassing that much
- I upgrade to "Mejai's Soulstealer" before buying any other item if I did get some early kills and be able to harass the enemy on and on
- I buy "Cloth Armor" before "Boots of Speed" if there is a harassing enemy ranged champion doing physical damage
With another champion on your side you (or even the other champion) should be able to get the first kill before the minions are spawned. Just "leap strike" the enemy champion on sight (usually in the bush), focus one of them (usually the weakest) and stay focused, use "exhaust" to prevent him from hitting you and running away and also to reduce his armor and magic resistance. And when he finally tries to get away you can use "flash" to do the last hit or maybe your "leap strike" isn't on cooldown any more.
How to harass the enemy
As long as the enemy champions are near their tower or close to full health you should only use "W + SHIFT-Q" (you will need at least lvl 2) to harass the enemy. It deals a lot of damage, cause of the runes and the early "Aplifying Tome", but always right click back right after clicking "SHIFT-Q" to get out of there as soon as possible. When your cooldown on "exhaust" and "flash" are gone, you can feel really safe and even try to kill some champions if they are leaving their tower. I wouldn't advise this till level 6, but you are even able to jump into the towers range (remember always using "W" before "SHIFT-Q"ing the enemy) kill the enemy with one or two additional hits and "flash" out to go back.
Since the patch you will be able to handle mid, but it's very difficult, you have to be very aggro against these range champions or you will loosing soon.
Playing together with another champion one lane is very cool with Jax. You can harass the enemy all the time and if they try to kill you right after you jumped at them, there is still a friend with a stun or even better with much damage to kill them or at least stop them from killing you.
Defense clash: Unless you do not have all these Items listed above you will be dead in about one second if you will be focused of all of them. So what you do is: Stay behind your allied champions, wait for the enemy to do the first step and right when they start to focus one of your champions, jump in and attack one after another and "W+SHIFT-Q" them if they really try to run from you.
Offense clash: Enemy minions are always your bless. Run near them if you chasing an enemy and if a new minion wave is coming stand right in front of all your minions and champions and then, right after you dodged and one enemy is to far behind his allies, you have the chance to start the fight. Just "W+SHIFT-Q" him and as soon, as you jumped in his face, click "E" and he will not be able to flee.
If you are focused, just spam "E" as often as possible and try to kill the weakest one. Because of your high dodge rate at late game, you will be able to chase low champions and kill them with the hilarious "W+SHIFT-Q+E" combo even when you are focused.
Remember to never focus the tank at team fights. Just ignore him (your dodge rate is really helpful at doing that) and kill his teammates.
The easiest Champions to handle are:
Twitch, Master Yi, Tristana, Teemo, Ashe, Warwick
The Champs, on which sight you should defenetly run are:
Sion(his stun kills you), Blitzcrank(his arm is very annoying at early game), Kassadin(his slow + silence is way to hard to handle for you)
I will add up some things here and there if I have time, ideas and some inspiration of your hopefully intellectual and reasonable comments :)
Edit: Please be patient with my English skills, I am an addict ... no seriously I am a German guy, who can understand nearly every word, but speaks like a schnitzel :D
